The trailer worked great on my trip to Colorado. It acted as a hotel room for Lexi and me during the first part and a great base camp the second part. Here is a pic from the trip:

Great looking trailer and is a perfect size. The only thing that I see is how low the spare hangs down but that might be just a pic view.

Thanks. It has worked great so far.

Bat,
The tire has not been a problem yet, but it does hang down lower then I would like.

The cover came with the trailer so I do not know where it game from.

I picked up a neon today off Craig's list thanks in part to this thread. Great trailer and build.
Was wondering what the difference is between the standard and off road packages? Also what size rims and tires are on the trailer? Is it lifted? Mt tires are smaller and i would like to up grade.

Welcome to the club. My Neon has a moderate lift. I was told it was done at the factory. All they did was add about a 4 inch peace of metal to the frame to raise the body. The tires are about 30 inches, but I can get you the exact size tomorrow. It will be supper easy to get the stock trailer to a more off-road capable version. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Checked this morning and the tire size is 235/75/15.

Did you buy the one off the Nashville Craigslist? I saw that one when we were shopping but decided on an 8' box closer to home.

Thanks Texgx I'm sure I will have more questions as I start tinkering with it.
I saw the one in Nashville but I got this one in Indy for a steal and it's like new.

Neon In High Winds / Snow?

My wife and I are considering a Neon. Has anyone here had theirs set up in high winds or moderate / heavy snow?

I'm wondering how the top of the extended bed area handles the weight of snow and how the extended sides handle winds (lots of flapping, instability, etc?).

Thanks,

Howard

I have stayed in pretty bad wind with no problem. There is a stabilizer on each corner plus the tongue wheel. The walls on mine are fairly tight and flapping has not been an issue. They do have a level of adjustment if you need to tighten them up. Mine is a little taller then I would like and being lower could help as well.

Hello TexGX:

Thanks for the quick reply. We picked up a Neon in Rawlins, WY off Craigslist. Spent a nice weekend driving up and back through the Colorardo Rockes gawking at yellowing aspen. Spent Saturday night in the trailer - sleeps great and tows better! Our has a furnace (the main reason for getting the trailer was fall & winter camping) that needs some electrical issues sorted out. Otherwise seems in perfect condition.

Would you consider this the main Neon thread? I anticipate further questions and ideas so I'd like to keep them in the best place.

This is one of the most detailed. I rewired my trailer so let me know if I can help. Make sure the connection at the end of the bed is making contact with the button at the end.

Yeah - I think that may be one issue. the previous owner mentioned that the furnace & lights stopped working so he and a buddy tried to troubleshoot the system. They rigged up a switch that obviously bypassed something and I couldn't figure out what - until seeing your message. I suspect the switch you mention is the problem. I'll look at it next time I get to the trailer. Any hints about where I should look? So far I remember a black momentary switch with a black metal shield just left of the passenger side of the rear of the bed. I couldn't figure out what that switch was for as it is a switch that doesn't stay switched unless you hold it in and it didn't seem to affect anything within the trailer.....

I would guess they did not know about the switch at the end of the bed that controls all the lights and heater and tried to work around it. It might be good to post up some pictures to compare the differences.
