bilstein5100 or OME 885?

i want to level out the front of my 08 DC and run 235/85R16 on stock wheels. which would be a better option? right now i am running completely stock on the front end (no winch or aftermarket bumper) but a bumper could possibly added within the next year.

thanks
jake

p.s. the 5100's i am referign to are the adjustable ones.

The 5100's will use your stock springs and they won't like the bumper you plan to add.

I totally agree, Bilstein makes a great product, but for a vehicle w/ a winch bumper, winch, ect. OME is the way to go. Plus, the ride quality is unmatched.

If you are adding 0-110 lbs. (bull bar) to your front end, use OME885 (x2)
If you are adding 110-220 lbs. (bull bar + winch) to your front end. use OME886 (x2)

Both springs will yield 1.75" of lift....match w/ OME N140S struts.

Have a great weekend!

I thought the 5100's were for rear.

I ended up going with King Coilovers in front for my 4Runner. Adjustable. :)

was leaning toward the OME but needed a little more assurance. thanks. was thinking of running 235/85r16 cooper stt on stock wheels. any comments ?

thanks again

I really like the looks of the Cooper STT but have no experience with them.

235/85 is the size I will be going with next!

Hi,
Are you referring to old Man Emu shocks?
If you are these shocks in Australia only rate middle of the range for quality and performance, Bilsteins and Koni are the top choice in Oz, but our Bilstein's are valved to suit our conditions.

i was refering to the OME coil springs, no tthe shocks.

also, fi i use just the springs (no top spacer or trim packer) will the lift gained were out my cv prematurely? i understand that there will be more angle on the boots after the lift but i dont want to be changing boots every 2 or 3 months.

thanks

Some people at full 3" or over have worn out their boots in I think around 40,000 miles

With less lift it will take much longer, I have mine lifted with 884's and the fins don't even touch.

I am running the 885's with the OME shocks and my cv angles are fine. The only time it should really give you trouble is if you were to go over 3" of lift and are turning hard with the wheel locked. At this point the truck wants to try and pull the cv out and thats when you start to have problems.

do i have to have OME front shocks to run there front springs. i just read the ad on trd4u web site and the way i understood is that i needed to run OME shocks to run there coils? am i reading this right?

thanks
jake
