You havent priced a comparable diesel truck new lately, have you? Crew cab 4x4, you're probably looking at $50k for a ram, more for a ford or chevy.

Lol I'm in the auto industry my friend and would blow your mind on what we can buy a new 2013 f250 crew cab or f350!!

Love the Tundra...that being said I just don't see the value for $$. I cant see spending 40k+ for a gas engine rig. Lol but this is coming from someone who has more invested in a 2002 E350 4x4 7.3 then what you spent on your new rig .

I dunno, if you don't need a diesel, why buy one? I would feel a lot more comfortable spending my money on the Tundra, or any other full-size gasser for that matter, than today's modern diesels. Seems like there is horror story after horror story with the diesels. The Tundra's engines...barely a peep.

Finally saw a new Tundra today at the dealer, they look much better in person. The grill still seems fricken huge though...of course they all are anymore.

The new diesels cost more, don't get any better mileage and fuel is .50-.70 cents more per gallon and oil changes are twice as much

I just sold my 1 ton dodge diesel and the current diesels don't justify the higher initial cost or higher cost to run in my mind. I do agree that $37k is expensive but it'll be a good truck and its on par with what else is out there

Congrats on the new ride Drummond! White is the right color for what you do. Much better choice than the Eco-poop Ford!

Hope you have a great season. Ours opens this week.

How do you compare 9800 tow capacity vs 15000?? I love the reliability of Toyota but $$ to $$ stock rigs in the long run what one can do with a diesel vs gas... hell tundra only has an 1400 payload capacity, and at the 40k I'm just saying.
Congrats any how

As they say "This in my house, I'll do as I damn well please..." ;)

As you suggested the Tundra will still be on the road, long after the Ram has fallen apart. Some
say, the Dodge chassis is a shipping crate for the Cummins.

Just saying! :D

At what point is enough, well, enough?

I don't think huntsonora is going to be towing 9,000 pounds on a regular basis, let alone 15,000......so what's the difference?

While I wouldn't buy a 2014 Tundra, I don't think it's a horrible choice. Nor would a half ton V8 from Ram, Nissan, Ford, or GM. They're all great trucks and should prove to have lower operation costs than a 3/4 ton or larger with a diesel engine. So if you don't *need* that extra capability, why pay for it??

The reliability of a 2007-up Tundra hasn't proven to be much different than any other modern half ton V8, nor is retained value much different. It ends up being largely preference, and which metric is more important to you (power, fuel economy, rear seat room, electronics, features, aftermarket, etc).

I must say, I do like the new styling much better than the 2013.

I hope you enjoy your new truck.

Very nice! Sounds like they made much needed improvements on the interior. I hope to purchase one in a couple years to tow a 25ft Airstream. Rumors are still swirling that a Cummins may be offered in the future.
