Not a truck mod exactly, but I finished up a round of mods to the trailer for the new RTT. More details in my thread in the trailer section.

Cliffnotes version: Telescoping rack for tent, tire carrier.

Looks good, how to do you raise up the rack for the tent? Climb in the trailer and push up on the underside of the rack while someone else helps with the locking pins?

Great truck. I just recently picked up an 04 DC and drove it about 1000 miles home from where I picked it up. It has 33 / 10.50 KM2's on it. #1, they have some cupping too, and I noticed another guy in this thread saying his were cupping as well..these may just not wear well? The guy I bought mine from was very meticulous and rotated his tires often so Im not sure whats up. #2, with these tires, I got about 17 mpg on the highway. BUT, the cruise control had one hell of a time even on flat ground. At one point it was completely flat, but I had a good headwind, and it kept downshifting, then going to 4th for a couple seconds, then back to 3rd again. It just couldnt maintain speed (70 on the speedo, so like 74-75 actual?).

Questions: Have you had the CC issues? Have you thought about regearing (or have you already)? I am seriously considering that as my first modification to this truck, albeit a very expensive one, just to get the performance back. Also, are you running only the rear locker still?

Thanks man, again, nice rig. Love all the cool ideas you have put into it.

I had some cupping issues when I was running "32x11.50 MTs on my '04 2xcab. That was caused by me not getting them rotated soon enough though.

My transmission will chase for gears sometimes when using CC. Doesn't sound like it's as bad as what you described, but it does happen. I am still running stock gears. Regearing would be a good idea. I'll do that at some point too.

I am only running the factory rear locker.

X2 here. It likes to hunt when going into the wind some days. It hates hills too. 73mph= crap mileage, 68=MUCH better (mph via GPS)

Thought I'd share some thoughts on my seat covers. I'm still searching for a great seat cover that fits well and has lots of pockets and most importantly doesn't break the bank. For the past 9 months or so I've been using these from Smittybuilt. They call them the Carryall. I had looked at the Smittybuilt G.E.A.R. covers. The GEAR covers are nice but are designed to fit a Jeep seat so fitment isn't perfect, and I've seen a lot of less than stellar reviews. So I decided to give the Carryall a try because it was about half the cost of the GEAR covers so I figured if it sucked, I wasn't out as much money but if it worked I'd have an acceptable cover with many of the same features for half the cost.

Pros:
Cotton fabric has been a surprise. They have been MUCH more durable than I would have thought. Honestly I didn't think they'd last me this long. They have also hardly faded at all which I didn't expect from the cotton.
Many pockets on the seat backs are very useful for maps, headlamps, small tools etc.
Attachment straps and cords are decent quality for the price.
They aren't slippery. (this was a complaint about the GEAR covers. The more durable PVC coated canvas can be a bit slippery allowing the driver to move in the seat). These covers keep me in the seat well.

Cons:
Not exact fit. They are very generic so they will "work" on a lot of seats but clearly aren't designed for a perfect fit on any one particular seat.
Strange webbing loops on seat back are not useful and stitching on them was poor.
A Molle system of attaching the pockets on the back would have been nice, but I'm guessing this is part of what made them cheaper than the GEAR covers.
Cotton Fabric. I'm sure it will not be as durable as some other options. I would guess you could get 2-3 years out of these covers.

Anyway, I should note that I have changed out the seats on my Tacoma to use Suzuki Reno front seats so fitment will be different on these seats vs. others.

These seat covers are no "holy grail" as far as covers are concerned. They've been better than I expected but I'm still on the search for something better.

Seat backs. Note the webbing on the passenger seat that I cut off where the stitching had come out. Not a big deal since the webbing isn't very useful

On a related note. In preparation for a long family camping trip in a few weeks, my factory seats are back in the bed. I have added a second aux power outlet in the bed and I'm currently running a small 12v fan that is mounted to the roof of the topper to pull cold air from the cab into the bed area. Airflow is already pretty good when the rear cab window and shell window are open, but it is mostly ambient temp air. Hopefully this fan will pull some AC cooled air back into the bed area to make it a bit more comfortable.

Just go to an Army Navy Surplus store, and buy a Tactical Vest. I have had one on my drivers side seat for years now. TONS of pockets, etc, PLUS, if your a prepper or survival person, you can take it off, and wear it.
