Ok here are some pics of the new tent. Pretty easy setup with the open ceiling. There is a "no-see-um" mesh window that can unzip, as well as an outer canvas window. The rainfly, unclips near the outside corners and rolls up at the center of the roofline. You can open just one side of the ceiling or both. Pretty nice.

the parking lot was slanted, not the tent.

.
You can see both ceiling windows (mesh and canvas) rolled up to the centerline of the ceiling.

.

.
With them closed and the rainfly clipped back into place it looks/functions exactly the same as the normal Kukenam.

Thats pretty slick! Sure would be nice on hat days to ditch the fly and canvas on top. MSRP on those?

My offroad wheels needed some touchup after several trips worth of rock rash. Seemed like a decent time to try a different color too. So I spent a couple hours stripping them with Aircraft Remover, cleaned them up and got some fresh paint on them. I used VHT Graphite colored wheel paint. This is the same paint I used on my FZJ80 wheels and I was impressed with it. At first blush I wasn't sure if I liked the graphite color on these wheels. I loved how they looked painted black but the graphite is growing on me.

VHT Graphite Paint

I have the same paint on my sliders and had my old wagon wheels painted with the same paint as well. Pretty durable, great coverage and it lasted on my sliders for a few years before I had to touch up the Driver side where my foot rubbed through. The Pass side is till going strong with just a little passenger wear and tree bark buffing.

Simply the best looking Tacoma out there.

I had the same one in red before parting out and getting my X. Looks great brother.

I apologize for not reading all 54 pages, the truck is phenomenal. My question is on the tires: they look like 35's, is that the case? If so, how is your steering holding up? I have weighed the option of going that big, and my only real concern is steering.

Thanks and again, awesome truck, apologies for not reading through all of the thread and asking a redundant question.

I run a couple sets of tires. Usually they are 33x1250s. The last set of photos are on the 33's but on the last page there are some photos of my new RTT. In those photos the truck is on 35's with my Land Cruiser wheels. Steering seems to do fine with either size. CV's are the things to watch if you're offroading with big tires. Drive smart and you should be fine.

I'm not too worried about CV's, as even if they aren't, you can actually upgrade them if you wish. The steering seems to be the only thing you can't beef up on these trucks. I'm not worried about bending things, but more concerned with "looseness" that some folks have found in these steering racks. I had that, and after biting the bullet for a remanned rack, I'm not excited about it being a "consumable" item, LOL.

Thanks!

Hate to break it to you but the steering rack is a "consumable". Even if the truck is stock, the rack is gonna get loose eventually and need to be replaced. The remanned racks are a crap shoot. Some work out ok, but others are crap right out of the box, and some last a little while and then start leaking. Just how it goes.
