Brake light, Battery light, and A/T lights staying on after alternator swap

Anyone have any details on why my Brake light, Battery light, and A/T lights are staying illuminated all the time? I recently replaced my alternator that was soiled and ultimately killed by a slow valve cover oil leak. After connecting the alternator and reconnecting the battery, I noticed the above three lights now stay on all the time. The alternator is working fine (~14.45V) and the battery is charged (12.9V). I even took it to my mechanic to take a peak and he tested both, checked for grounding issues, blown fuses, relay issues and found nothing.

I am wondering if any of you have heard about Monteros only liking Mitsubishi alternators. Is this true? My new alternator is from O'Reilly's, but seems to be working. Wondering if you have any suggestions on trouble shooting these lights.

Thanks,

Carlos

Try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so and re-connecting. Might reset everything.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I have a feeling that my mechanic is right. He said Montero's tend to like Mitsubishi alternators. I was just wanting to see if there was another solution other than a $300.00 alternator from the dealer. If anyone has any more ideas I am all ears.

Make sure the connections are tight. Use a voltmeter to see that the unit is charging the battery. Check that the wires/prongs in the harness connections are all good at mating points. Have your original unit rebuilt.
