I enjoy my old Skool Perk...................!

It came out of a very old cabin up in Lake Tahoe.

Used to use that espresso pot. Just doesnt work well at high altitude. Lately cowboycoffee (in its own designated pan). We also add the cold water. For a while tried the filter method, too much work. Going camping NOT to do dishes, or cook for hours.

So I am a coffee snob when it comes down to it, and that is mainly why I don't use the perk for 'good' coffee.

I've used the mini espresso which is great for flavor and coffee but I also enjoy the whole process of the french press...seems nuts but I like it.

I do own the GSI lexan that I use for my solo trips, and I have another stainless steel one that is for non solo trips.

I guess I make coffee differently depending how much of a process I want to make out of it.

Sometimes camping and cooking is part of the experience, and sometimes its just the fuel to keep me going!

Good suggestion about the knocking the pan on the side, saw a friend of mine do that years ago and totally spaced it.

Despite your judgement....

.............you are always welcome in mine. :)

Plus, I'd never turn a cup of joe down even if I'm snobbish about my own coffee...

The other reason I boil water first for the french press; sometimes i make a thermos of tea for later...

We use a Bialetti Mukka Express Cappuccino Maker. It is delicious with milk or with soy and does not over foam, but incorporates the foam well into the drink. More like European cappuccino than what you might get at Starbuck's or the like, and it takes only 4 minutes to have your cup ready to go. Not the cheapest thing, but we use it camping and at home and saves a run to the local coffee shop.

Fits nicely on the stove

Small, light unbreakable (to a point), and makes great coffee / espresso

[spressomon]mog: Have you used it? Does it give crema or is the paper filter too fine to allow crema to develop/pass?

Ahhh....a man who knows the process. No the crema does not develop/pass. Although the end result is very pure, and I have used their suggestion of brewing extra, and just adding hot water later for coffee strength, or hot/steamed milk for a latte. I even use the filters in my regular home machine since I like the results.

The best breakfast coffee I've had is 'cafe de olla' enjoyed with friends and family in Mexico. The grounds are kept wet in a stove kettle, stay in use for months and are added to or subtracted from as needed, but there is always about a 1/2 pot of wet coffee grounds ready to start the next day's morning. Extra flavor comes from putting a stick or two of cinnamon or some cinnamon powder in the coffee pot 'olla' every few days.
