Update. I might get this started soon. I'm missing my hold down bracket for the vacuum pump that is run off the back of the cam. So hopefully I can locate that soon.

Wiring is 95% done.

I need to get a new alternator. Another battery. And install my Land Rover power steering pump.

I just need to mount my fuel filter. All the lines are hooked up otherwise.

That's about it. Maybe I'll fire it up this week.

IT Fired, for couple of seconds on WD40.

The lift pump / fuel pump, isn't working. So I ordered another one. $14. The Ford Starter Relay was also dead, i used a ford starter relay for my glow plug relay set up. So I ordered a new one for $8.

I should be ready to fire on Monday.

Ok. Fuel pump is in. New solenoid. Been trying to crank it. But still no start. There must be a ton of air in the lines.

Anyway a few pictures. Things are progressing.

So the new fuel pump was not working. I hooked up an old Mercedes electric fuel pump to push all the air out of the system. It puts out 55 psi though which is way to much to run the engine.

But it fired up.

Power steering pump, alternator and cooling lines left in the engine bay. Then install the transfer case and have some new driveshafts made. Then maybe I can drive it again.

So, i've been working on this thing lately again. I finally decided to use the GM power steering pump. The land rover one wouldn't fit anywhere well, and the stock GM pump in its stock location was hitting the steering box. The cool thing about using the GM pump, is the fluid reservoir is self contained, and the stock land rover fittings screw right into the pump, also there will be less hoses to leak and less crap under the hood. I have to build a few new brackets still to help stabilize it better, but it'll work just like stock.

I've been looking for alternator options. I wanted something that put out a lot of juice stock and was reliable. After a bit of research I figured out a GM CS144 style alternator was the answer. It puts out 140 amps stock and I can swap my V-belt pulley right on. It even mounts in the stock location. I will have to wire it up, but it just needs a battery signal, ignition keyed on signal and it even has a tack wire.

In this picture, its just hanging there. I'm still cleaning up the brackets.

The engine bay is starting to get cluttered. I'm hoping later down the road, I can add the AC pump.

I also ordered an electric fuel pump off amazon, its pretty heavy duty, it came with a pump, regulator and gauge. So, once I figure out how to mount all that stuff, I'll post a picture. I need to get some fittings so i can hook it all together.

Pieced together my electric lift pump and regulator. Just need to build a mounting bracket inside the engine bay next.

Finished relocating the power steering pump today.

Now I just need to find a non- hydroboost version and I can get the pulley on and aligned.

I ended up moving it about 1.5" up.

Alright, alternator wiring is finished, just need to figure out which wire in the engine bay is for the idiot light. I'm not sure if I care about that or not.

What r u doing for cooling this beast ,long time ago there was a thread here about the same modification and the guy did a magor mod to th front in order to put a bigger radiator.

I'm going to have the radiator re-cored. I'm going to have the radiator inlet and outlet changed to 2". I'll also have the transmission and oil coolers taken out. I'm going to run a separate external cooler for the oil and transmission.
