Don't engage. He's a troll from another forum. I asked the NV forum why they chose an NV over a Ford or Chevy (since Nissan is only 10% of the market share, but arguably the most capable). And that engaged the antitroll defense system for some reason. I work for Nissan's ad agency and we were looking for some owner quotes. But him and his buddies refused to believe that. And instead went with the much more plausible theory that I'm some sort of Ford troll hell-bent on invading their forum to make them doubt their vehicles. Similar to what he's doing now.

Because my wife was sick of me modifying, repairing and restoring the supposed most reliable vehicle in the world (Land Cruiser). And I wanted to replace it with something new that would be as capable in stock form as my modified 100-series. It's the only new vehicle in the US that combines the following features: 4.11 gearing, solid axles, coil sprung suspension, stock 32" Mt tires, removable everything, well-engineered aftermarket support, a more utilitarian interior that still has all the creature comforts I want on the highway, and it looks like the Mercedes W463 I wanted but knew would be even more work than my 100.

I kind of figured. I drove my JK 900kms yesterday and was perfectly comfortable. I have to get a couple of pictures before I unload it...theres about 400lbs of stuff in the back for my new business. 2 55KG bags of blasting media, 20kg of rags, a 5 gallon jug of solvent and various other items. My bags are at less than 10 lbs of air. I will toss up a photo later. stock springs too. I am not sure why my rig always held weight really well.

Gorgeous! I love it so far. Can't wait to see the 35s. Are you going to put the KO2s on the stock rubi wheels?

Probably. I'd love the quadratec rubicon hard rock wheels with the proper backspacung and width, or onyx AEV Saltas of the moose beadlocks, but I can't thing if more fun ways to spend $1200. It would be nice to lose the complexity and rotational weight of the spacers. So We'll see. Still kind of want 37s. But exercising restraint.

Probably. There is a set of AEV pintlers for sale locally that I might try to pick up just to avoid the hassle of finding a tire shop that'll install 35s on 7.5" rims. It'd also be nice to lose the spacers. We'll see. Still kind of want 37s. But exercising restraint.

Make sure they are GEN 2 Pintlers, I've had two of my GEN 1's crack in the last month.

So, the new ones are fixed?

I haven't seen any issues posted regarding the new ones. I currently have one of the Gen 2's and the rim itself is substantially thicker then the Gen 1, I'm not sure what other design changes have been incorporated. AEV has been helpful and I am working with them on a solution.

If you can, might as well go 37s. look at MTSN's orange beast! its awesome.

NMBR was saying running the 37" KO2s put a lot of strain on his power steering, and maybe not related, but it bent his front axle over the year he tested them. I'm thinking for a daily driven, overland centric JK, 35's are the smart choice. Especially since I ordered the 4:11 gears for them. And most of the guys I wheel with have 33s.

Yeah, AEV is an awesome company for sure with regards to warranty. If they are noticably thicker, then chances are they fixed the design flaw. Good too...I love those wheels.

KVW, I agree. I run 33's and its more than enough for my useage. 37's look great, but yes, they do come with some must do's. I built my rig around 33s since its more all around than off road. I put ALOT of off road miles on, but I also put ALOT of on road miles. Next replacement part for me is a new steering box and bracing. Mine is getting some slop now but I cannot fault it with 195,000 on the clock since aug 2011.

Even the 35" tires can use a little steering assist at times.
The 4:1 transfer case of the Rubicon, along with the automatic works great with the optional 4.10 gears. If I had a standard transfer case, I'd definitely regear to a 4.56 though.

BTW: the shots of your naked rig are pure Jeep porn... :victory: lol

Thank you! What can you do to bee up the power steering short of hydro assist? Other than 4.10 gearing being less than ideal for 37s, the brakes would be lacking. But the brakes are already lacking. So I wouldn't mind switching to the molar big brake kit, even if I kept 32s.

Tire size is tough. I wish my front tires would clear the top of the spring perhaps. But if need at least 37" ko2s to accomplish that. Also the price of ko2s have jacked up. I reserved some at $265 two months ago that I cancelled. Now 4wheelparts wants $295. I wonder if they'll honor the old price.

The simple way is definitely ram assist. Using an aftermarket pump with higher pressure at same or greater flow volume would work as well, but that puts more strain on the frame and steering gear.
I choose better lines, or a bypass... actually I choose to bypass first, and if not available try to pick a better line that doesn't wedge the tire/wheel against immovable objects... lol

Totally agree on the brake upgrade. Even with stock tires the brakes have poor modulation at threshold.

On Wrangler Forum there is a rep from Discount tire, when ready you might PM him to see what kind of deal you can get, using a local Discount Tire/America's Tire shop.
BTW: The local America's Tire shop mounted up the 35's on stock wheels without issue. They also had an excellent price just walking in off the street.

I used American/discount tires for my land cruiser but I was under the impression that they wouldn't mount into stock rims and I think someone else beat me to the pintlers. I'll check with my local one. If not, 4wheelparts might honor their old price and have a no sales tax deal right now.
