WOW:Wow1: :Wow1: :Wow1: :Wow1:

That is freaky. That is very similar to mine.

That looks lighter, but mine was not designed from the start to have a tire carrier.

Thanks for the pics.... I am zooming in on them as I write.

Thanks Scott,

Finally I have time to start building some of it.

don't you hate that?

I'm torn this weekend:

Buddy and I just made a deal to do some parts swapping so I need to pull the TRD E-locker out of this 96 housing I have that He wants (I'm keeping the locker and modifying my 86 housing I traded him a set of 35s for the axle bunch of spare parts and a set of rims). He has a front diff assembly lined up for me with the matching 4:30's that are in the e-locker I have for a reasonable price.

So the delema.

Paint the house orrr....tinker on the truck....paint the house orrrr...tinker on the 70 Pontiac....paint the house.......tinker on the truck.....

I am really am not feeling the love for the house this weekend.... LOL

Wish I had a few more miles on the new motor. I would be very tempted to drive up to Knoxville area and do some trail riding with the Southern 4wd event going on.

Updated design

Well, I updated my bumper design just a little, so I thought I would post the links.

Bumer Closed

Bumper Open

I decided to track my design progress, so my old designs are still shown. My current design is labelled.

The basic design is steel with aluminum table and the shovel, ammo can, and HF antenna are mounted to an aluminum subframe.

Comments welcome.

The gate is almost done! I have not been able to spend much time on it.... and I had to learn how to weld.

I will post some pics, .... sometime:shakin: just kidding, they will come in a week or so. ;)

The gate is a bit heavier than I had wanted. I decided not to hang much off of it besides a tire, a fiberglass handled shovel, maybe an HF antenna, and a bike rack for on road use only.

The reason I made the gate heavier is so that I can hang my bikes off of the center receiver tube. This allows me to swing my bikes with the tire gate. I wont use the bike rack when offroad to reduce the weight back there when offroad.

tire weight!!!!

I just weighed my spare tire....

80 lbs

So that adds about 130 to 155 lbs to my rear bumper including everything. There is nothing I can do about the tire weight. My gate weighs 50lbs, but it is designed to handle carrying my dual bike rack. I could have made it lighter, but I wanted to be able to cary my bikes.

I am almost done with the gate. I hope I still like how my truck handles when I am done.

Sorry for the slow responses, I got married and I have not had time to work on it for several months. It is sitting in my office 90% done. I will get to it some time. Probably in the next few months. Right now I am concentrating on my electrical system.
