Bumper help

Hey guys, I have been wanting to get an A.D.D. bumper for quiet some time now. Yet the stealth bumper with the winch mount was 2300. I figured it already has the winch mount, and maybe down the road I will get a winch. My question is how often have you fellow adventurers used your winches? ADD just release another bumper which is much cheaper. The ADD LITE bumper around 890 plus install, and shipping from 4wparts. Yet I don't think its possible to mount a winch. The guy at 4wparts told me go explore with the truck as it is now, and if I don't find myself needing the winch just to get the cheaper bumper, and maybe fab something up at a later date Should I just save up for the first bumper, or go with the other one which has a even better approach angle?

I think it depends on if you are going to push your truck and try to go as far as possible or just do mild exploring. Some people just like to have a winch on for looks. Maybe you could get the cheaper bumper and later add a receiver mount style winch.

Good idea, I just recently got stationed in Colorado Springs, and for most parts haven't done any extreme off roading. Just basic trails with elevation changes but recently found more intricate trails in the Cheyenne mtns, yet unless it's snowing or raining I don't think I'll need it. I guess just like going from my tacoma prerunner to this ram 4wd which I've rarely used so far it's more of a piece of mind for now.

Stylish bars and great for approach angles in lumpy terrain. But more like the 'pre-runner' and desert trim in my region. Not what I'd want for the Rockies. Snow / slushy roads, bigger animals crossing the road, and they've got almost no front-impact use / protection. Something I think is worth considering on a daily driver, but then again I'm in L.A.

You'll never need a winch until you REALLY need it. And then you'll lament the $$$ you saved when you pay the tow rig.

Get the winch. As mentioned, you won't need it until you NEED it. I'm not a fan of the big sheet metal bumpers, so I did mine in tube (Pre-runner style), but it is 1.75" tubing all welded into my frame with a 12K winch tucked inside. A large animal would have a very bad time with that but I really never want to find out................
