Thanks to Chris Shontz, we now have a new photo gallery section on the homepage!

I know that this forum is filled with very talented photographers - I am amazed at the pictures we have received for the monthly contest.

If any of you would like to contribute and show their work, please contact me and I will be happy to put some of your best images in this new gallery!

This is a great idea. I submitted some of my favorite shots to the cause. I hope many others will as well. It would be nice to see a wide variety of albums from the many great photogs in this community to browse through on the home page.

Obviously I am a newbie to photography and they are many true photographers in our community with skills that are leaps and bounds above mine. Bring them on. :wings:

I'm surprised that only a few folks have decided to showcase their work on the EXPO homepage.

Have people just not seen this offer or are there other reasons that make this not an attractive showcase for your photography?

I did look at it, but I personally dont think mine are good enough given the high caliber of photo's from the comps recently. I imagine some other feel the same. could you link to the gallery, I couldn't actually see anything obvious.

If I get some good shots from West Africa next week I will email them over.

The images shown on the home page appear to be random from the posted galleries. Right now the only way I see to get to view of galleries is to click on an image which takes you to the source gallery and then back up from there to the photographer gallery choices.

Thanks Brad, I can see it now and see what you mean. There is so much info on the new homepage its hard to see the wood for the trees!

I generally skip the home page and jump right to the forum via bookmark.

My suggestion of the current implementation is that it needs to be more visible. Perhaps a menu entry in the top nav bar?

The homepage is bombarded with content but with bad sizing of individual content so it's not very usable.

For example, I'm on a high resolution screen with 1050px of vertical resolution. Yet, the only content that is not cut off is the featured stories in the black box. Below URL links to a screenshot of what I see when I go to the homepage. As you can see - not ideal use of space.

Smaller expo logo, compress the content together, less padding space between each section etc, can go a long way to displaying as much information as possible without the user needing to scroll.

A couple note: we are still tweaking a few things on the gallery so that's why we have not "pushed" it to much now. But I am really looking forward to showcase more image.

I assume that a good illustration of use of space would be http://www.cnn.com/?

The feedback is very much appreciated. We will work to improve that.

A couple more note.

We will deactivate the "right-click/save as" function to limit the possibility of downloading.

Also, I have no problem at all if you want to put a watermark/logo (from you) in the picture.

If you want, send me a short bio of yourself and an picture, I would be happy to put that in your gallery.
