Camp Security/Monitoring Surveillance While You Sleep or Are Away

Most of the time we are not concerned. However, there are semi urban easily accessible locations for thieves and ultra remote boondock locations where it would be nice to know.
Lots of amazing technology is now available.
  • Motions sensor lights w/ battery and or solar recharge,
  • Motion sensor “game type” cameras, some of which are Wi-Fi enabled,
  • Starlink connected devices that can communicate with your phone
  • I don't care?
What is your setup?

This.

130lb of dog tends to keep uninvited things/folks away, and while in camp/camper, we have both unleaded and leaded bear spray near at hand in case dog isn’t with or is somehow ineffective.

When we leave, things are locked up. Anything not locked…. Is something we recognize that if someone needs it more than us, then go for it. Expensive/important things are secured in the truck/camper, other stuff out of direct sight.

IMHO a visible deterrent is important to discourage the casual opportunist, and I don't mean NRA stickers. This solution for peace of mind while we're away from our rig is brilliant in its simplicity (full credit to Arnold at OEV). The entry step flips over to become a security bar! The shackle is fully enclosed underneath.

Always willing to up my game though. Is there a doorbell/peephole camera with the mechanism on the inside? LOL, I've also mused about a pepper spray bomb...

Looks like a solid mechanism. Any concern while sleeping about being locked inside, by some @sshat, with no available egress?

I have a Starlink Mini mounted on the roof of my FWC camper. I then use an Arlo Essentials camera mounted where ever I want to mount it. On the camper or hidden in a tree in my campsite somewhere. I can see a live view or recorded videos on my phone where ever I am. The Arlo will last at least 2-4 weeks without needing a recharge.

I'm sooo ignorant of this technology. I understand the Starlink will upload your camera alerts to the "cloud" but how do you retrieve them in the bush beyond cellular without another Starlink?

We do not travel without our truck and camper meaning we are always attached. So wherever we go our Starlink is always with us. I can monitor what is going on around us when at the campground or on the move thru the Arlo app on my phone. But if we happened to go out to eat with someone leaving our truck camper behind, I would have to have some sort of wifi connected to my phone to be able to see my camera setup back at the truck camper. I hope that makes sense?
