Camper Door

I’m working on my aluminum framed flatbed camper. I was planning on installing doors and windows from Arctic Tern. I went to order and the entry doors are backordered until end of February.

Does anyone else have a suggestion on high quality camper door?

Thanks

That’s cool. I’m looking for a Wildland door 1370x660 in black. Let me know if you have one

Have you considered building the door?

I have not. I’m welding the frame so I could but was really interested in the super nice hinges and door latch of the arctic tern. All other doors seem very cheap.

They get those hinges and latch somewhere, with your skills I'd be building my own door.

Really hadn’t thought about that but maybe that’s a better route. I’ll start shopping hinges. I’ve seen sweet electronic deadbolts on some camper doors so may have to start researching.

I just figured that there has to be some quality range in between the cheap RecPro doors and the Arctic Tern

I built my own door for my square drop, took a couple generations to get it right. If I build another camper, I think I'd buy a door. My time is still expensive.

Sadly I am not finding them. I need a midsize door (50-54" range) and the only one I can find is the Wildlands door. I have this door on my M1010 project and it's nice but I would love to find something of good quality at a lower price. Unfortunately all I find are teardrop size doors (too small) or fullsize doors (too big). I don't want to build my own, as I want a working screen door and that complicates things a bunch.

Can't you get a taller door and cut it down?

I watched some videos and it's kinda a PITA. Also, it tends to put the door handle very low in the door, since you typically are removing the extra from the bottom part of the door and the handles are already installed.

I built mine out of the cutout sip panel. Channel perimeter and used an architectural roto hinge. Recessed fold our door lever and a commercial dead bolt. It was very stout
