For the money, one of the best camp lights that I have found is this LE 500 lm lantern for $18.50 shipped. http://www.lightingever.com/9w-battery-powered-led-camping-lantern-3300008.html
Regarding 'tripping on guy wires', I'd suggest using reflective rope. Everyone I camp with has a personal headlamp (so they can get up and pee at night). The reflective rope prevents accidents.
Why replace, when those guy wires serve as part of your "perimeter security" system! Thanks, I will be replacing my guy wires with reflective paracord.
Can you chain these together? If not suggestions on how to use one power supply?

This one is chain able. A simple usb hub may work to connect multiples of the other one together.

I went with some more permanent lighting for around the site. In the tub of my trailer under the lid I installed a really sweet LED light from Princess Auto. I liked it so much, every time they go on sale I buy another! One in the back of the XJ, one under the hood on the XJ, in the RTT...lol.

Under the trailer tub I installed some "Penny Marker Lights" from Princess Auto as well (love that place). These are awesome. Less intrusive than the other perimeter lights, and very low power consumption. Makes it easy to find camp when you go away for a walk at night. heh

Personally, I don't care for a super-illuminated campsite. I just use several of these: http://luminaid.com/products/luminaid-packlite-12
I use headlamps and handheld flashlights if I need more light as I'm walking around or working on something.
