Campsite Lighting

Regarding 'tripping on guy wires', I'd suggest using reflective rope. Everyone I camp with has a personal headlamp (so they can get up and pee at night). The reflective rope prevents accidents.

Thanks, I will be replacing my guy wires with reflective paracord.

I have 4 of these lanterns, which put out an AMAZING amount of light for what I spotted is 6 hours on high, 10 on low
They are rechargable from a micro USB cable (such as android phone) and VERY VERY small (fits in your palm closed almost)

Then i have 6 3300 MAH battery packs to run various USB charged devices (such as these lanterns, and LED string lights in my RTT)

basically like that. the ones i have, there is also an led flashlight on the ends.
edit here it is:

i got it for 7.00 though not the current price.

Can you chain these together? If not suggestions on how to use one power supply?

Not by the light itself. My battery pack has two inputs and that's been plenty for me, but I ordered a USB hub to see if I could run multiple lights together.

These look good but no switch and I am not sure they are the warm light like the Onlites

This one is chain able. A simple usb hub may work to connect multiples of the other one together.

It's hard to get a good photo example of the warm white, but it has a nice glow. I like them best to fill the void between vehicle and fire pit or over the cooking area.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the National Luna LED lights with amber light diffuser. We find them great in areas where bugs and mosquitoes are a constant nusence.
Apparently the Mosquitoes don't see the Amber yellow light spectrum that draws them to regular white lights....We still get lots of moths and other flying critters but can report a noticable drop in mosquitoes bites that are drawn to the regular white LED lights.

LED's being a very low consumer of power means we can run a number of these lights from the back of the truck for hours when cooking without being bothered or bitten :)

I think I need a bigger truck!
Man, there are some great finds in this thread. I have been looking and thinking about a set of the Goal Zero camp lights, but now that I have seen those $10.00 Amazon lights... that plan might change.

I went with some more permanent lighting for around the site. In the tub of my trailer under the lid I installed a really sweet LED light from Princess Auto. I liked it so much, every time they go on sale I buy another! One in the back of the XJ, one under the hood on the XJ, in the RTT...lol.

All around the trailer for all evening lighting I installed some very reasonably priced License Plate lights. LED, very low power consumption and readily accessible. I got mine from SuperbrightLED's but you can also get them at Princess Auto and many other locations. These work great for my kitchen which is at the back of the trailer and where I sit under the awning.

Under the trailer tub I installed some "Penny Marker Lights" from Princess Auto as well (love that place). These are awesome. Less intrusive than the other perimeter lights, and very low power consumption. Makes it easy to find camp when you go away for a walk at night. heh

I was also given a UFO light for under the tent or in the awning/easy up at NWOR last June. Thanks Bobby from CVT for this and the hat!

It sure is handy having lighting options when out in the pitch black camping...and you drop your keys.

Can anyone compare the Luci lanterns to the LuminAid lanterns? I'm hopeful that the LuminAid units are a bit better made. Reading the reviews of the Luci's, it seems quality control is bit hit or miss. And I agree with Trembotusk. Great thread. Wallet unhappy!

No worries. They worked great and were very reasonable. Over all I am very happy with the lights and the light output. Plus...it looks pretty kool too.

I liked the penny lights so much I installed the red and orange ones as running lights too.
