CAMPTEQ's 80 Series Land Cruiser pop top Prototype

I will NOT be cutting my roof but I have been in and seen the CampTeq in person. IIRC the CampTeq is ~54" at its highest point above the roof and the LC roof is ~44" above the floor or slightly over 8' at the peak.

I'm on the fence about the roof cut, but will most likely do it. I've got a full set of AO drawers with fit kit that I will be integrating into my build, and I'm thinking that stacking them on one side along with a roof cut will be the way I go. I've got a Puma compressor that needs real estate (inspired by none other than LandCruiserPhil I might add) so that will need to be taken into consideration.

I first cut a section that was a common aftermarket rear sunroof size. I never crossed a wire for that cut. Even with the full cut, the lights just move.
It's really useful with the roof...just a bit restrictive:sombrero:

Seems like cutting the roof would be the way to go, you could really get the most of the pop up by being able to stand up or even cook/live in bad weather. But cutting the roof would make a snorkel install feel like nothing. It will be fun to see both cut and uncut roof builds to compare the set ups and usable space.

When this thing comes out for the 60 im going to cut my entire roof off and install it (please come out for the 60 soon :)). Otherwise what is the advantage of this over a autohome columbus? The interior space and being able to treat your LC as a camper is worth the cost of this modification.

I will not be cutting my roof and the decision to go with CampTeq over Columbus was easy.
Cutting edge
Ability to deal directly with the owner for custom ideas
More aerodynamic
Much shorter in height
No gap between roof and camper
Same width and lines of my Land Cruiser
Weight
Ability to carry on the top
Durability - 3/16 aluminum over fiberglass or carbon fiber
Less cost then the carbon and close to the cost of the fiberglass

The cool factor the CampTeq wins hands down. I feel very lucky being one of the first CampTeq owners as I continue to thank my wife:wings:
3 weeks and counting :ylsmoke:

I have seen and used the campteq. It is awesome. If I had a 80 series I would have one in a heartbeat. What landcruiser Phil x3.
This is an accessory that adds value to your cruiser as simple as that.

Yeah i was in no means saying the columbus was superior in anyway. The campteq is awesome and i await the day it is available for the 60.

I was just saying that cutting the roof drastically improves the utility of this tent in my opinion. If youre going to spend the money might as well go all the way :ylsmoke:
