Canon G9

I think when time comes to ante up some coin, I may just stick with LR1 and use it for most of my post process. I'm going to upgrade Capture NX to NX2 for the $100 or so bucks, and I'll use it when I really want the best IQ out of an NEF.

That's pretty funny too. I quit using Capture several years ago. I couldn't stand the pain.

I should say that the one area where noise can be little ugly with my G9 is at night in really dark situations, or if I try and push the ISO above 200. Why do they even put ISO 800, 1600, and (gulp) HI on a P&S?

Hmmmmm.....many of the pictures I take involve deep shadows and a lot of dark space.

I'll try overexposing a few on the camera, then pulling it back down in LR.

OHhhh, I'm thinking out loud here...but there is so much talent on this site, that maybe we ought to think about an ExPo photo workshop...one where the emphasis isn't so much on the driving, but more on the photography. Say...2-3 days somewhere totally awesome, somewhat central, and so juicy and tender that no one would be able to say no.

Just a thought, but it seems that we have a lot of talented aspiring photographers, and plenty of instructors to go around, it really could be a fun one-on-one, or nearly so, type of an event.

Someone smart and organized should put this together. We could even advertise it in the OJ magazine. Cost? $5 for a hat and a pat on the back (or something nominal like that...).

Sounds like a lot of fun. I'd be up for it.

Hey, everyone, we just picked up our brand new G9. We've only takena handful of photos so far, but it's waaay better than the Kodak Easyshare that recently met its fate on a rock in West Virginia.

In our fiddlings this morning we were disappointed with the "continuous" photo speed. Beth found out by switching the thing to "sport" mode it started snapping off photos like mad.

Can't wait to take more, and hopefully better, photos now...

Good tip about using sport mode, I had observed the same slow firing on 'continuous'. Continuous is terrible with the flash ON.

I really like this powerful little tool (have had mine for about a month). There are things it does better than my DSLR (like super close focusing).
