Hey TacoDell,

How durable does the material need be? Canvas requires an additional treatment to become waterproof - have you considered tarpaulin (tarp?). Heavy duty tarp is pretty cheap (I find mine from old awnings or light duty truck covers) and is waterproof.

Depending on the thickness you may need a heavier industrial-type machine; however I have one and am willing to sew one up for you (I have to find a drive belt for my machine first)

PM me and we can work out details - I always need practice sewing anyways, and it'll go to some good use!

edit - found some tarp from "king canopy," they make car canopies that sit outside for years at a time; I'm pretty sure it's both waterproof and UV resistant. I can use that if you want

Go to the DIYtactical forum. There are plenty of people on there who can help you out, and they're all about these kind of custom projects. I used Sunbrella to make a cover for a Tempurpedic mattress that I cut up to turn into a bed/couch/futon-thing for Mah Deuce. Pretty happy with it for what it is, but I would choose something burlier for any type of HD application. Best bet might be a material I've only heard called 'trucker's tarp'.

I've decided to go with TopGun for the material...
and have a sail making shop... (down in San Diego)
bringing that together for me.

thanks again, to all that offered advice and/or help !

I'll post up the results when the job has been completed. :)
