Chains; RUD Grip 4x4, Olympia Sprints or Diamond HD/Reinforced?

I have searched the forum archives and found that many like the RUD Grip 4x4's for the money ($90/pr for 285/75/16...BFG AT's);

Alternatively, has anyone used the Olympia Sprints($112/pr)?...

...or the Diamond Heavy Duty Reinforced($135/pr for TUV, $170 for ONORM...$95/115 for non-HD)...

Has anyone found a significant advantage to the Reinforced version?; "extra traction links welded at 90 degrees to the regular 4.5mm Diamond Chains."

TIA!

I don't actually know what size mine are, they are at least 30 years old. But I've never had them break and I used them a lot in VA and VT. In VA I kept my 88 chained on all four wheels a good part of the year because there was a lot of mud and I was hauling heavy firewood loads. Never broke there either.

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
I've only had experience with the Grip 4x4 chain. They have served me well for years.
Any of the RUD products are quality equipment.

I've wanted those "X" configuration chains :drool: but reading the fine print reveals none are recommended for full size diesels. :( I know they make those for huge loader and plows. I guess the hunt is on!

I've only had experience with the RUDS. Been happy with them and the ease of mounting while out on the trail. Only thing i don't care for is that the tensioner is rubber and i've broke them before pulling too hard. That being said, they stood behind the product and fired out a replacement well before i left for the next trip.

Thanks Dave. Been enjoying following your travels.

Looks like the RUD's are most popular, probably for a reason. :)

im glad someone posted this up. Im about to buy a set, maybe 2, for a trip coming up and ive never messed with having chains before. Sounds like the RUD's are the most popular.
