Prime advantage of CO2 over N2 is that CO2 undergoes a phase change to liquid at it's normal bottle pressure. N2 does not, it's still a gas - a highly compressed gas, but still a gas at it's normal bottle pressure. So any given size tank will hold much more cubic feet of atmospheric pressure CO2 than it will of atmospheric pressure N2.

I've seen CO2 regulators freeze off in Baja in November while using air tools. It was relatively cold for that year's race, but nothing like the Right Coast kind of cold. I'd guess high 30's-low 40's at the lowest. The team's fix for that is several bottles. In a pit stop we can't wait for the regulator to thaw, so everyone uses the same air hose QD's and the hose gets moved to the next bottle.

Got some stuff done on the trailer this weekend. Put on the flares. It now sits just an inch higher than the jeep when empty. Will be painting it soon.

Looks good Travis! That shell is going to turn into a big drag without a window in the front though.

I've got a window for it, and it is a slider. The shell is cracked where the window goes, I am going to fix that and paint it before I put the window back in.

The plan is to paint within the next few weeks.

Now for the hard part... I have to figure out how I'm going to paint it.

I can't decide:
1. All silver
2. Silver bed and black shell
3. Silver bed with black below the bottom body line and a silver shell
4. Silver bed with black below the bottom body line and a black shell

I vote for silver bed black topper. That looks great. The bushwhackers add a nice touch.:clapsmile

Paint the trailer silver, black topper...but maybe paint the quarters on the trailer to simulate the armour on the quarters on the XJ....

Heck no, on painting the top black. Especially if your going to sleep in it. Imagine how hot that will get in the sun. Silver on the top if you must have black do it on the bottom. IMHO I'd do the whole thing silver and go around the bottom (from the style line down and up around the flares) with black bedliner (herc or professional)

Love the progress on this trailer The frame looks a little sketchy and I'm curious why the bed was mounted so high on the stanchions? I think it was already mentioned that the gap between the bed and the frame looks like a perfect spot for 40 gallons of water or something to that effect. Kudos on a nice job so far.

Thanks!

The stock MJ frame was cut right at the front of the bed, then 2x5" tubes that form the tounge were slid into and bolted to the MJ frame rails. The stanchions are the stock mounts for the bed, so the bed is still in the stock location on the MJ frame. It looks almost like it has a body lift when viewed from the front, but it does give me access to a large area for storage under the bed. I am going to be doing some more tinkering with the area where the tounge meets the MJ frame to clean it up.

Travis,

Your rig looks great! One question, does the fuel door on the trailer go to an on board spare fuel tank? That'd be a great way to carry extra fuel without eating up space in the trailer. Great looking rig makes me sorry I'm getting rid of my XJ.
