Chevy NP435

Can someone please let me know which years and models of GM/Chevy trucks the close ratio NP435 came on?

Specifically I'm looking for a Chevy NP435 close ratio gear set but am willing to purchase a complete gearbox if needed in order to get the gears. Even more specifically I.m looking for the later style that came on a gearbox with tapered bearing input shaft, not the earlier version that came with the roller bearing input shaft.

If I'm going to scour the wrecking yards I would like to know which vehicles to check.

Of if anyone has a set they are willing to sell please let me know.

Are you sure a NP435 is what you really looking for? 435’s are more of a Dodge and Ford transmission although very few GM trucks came with them. I had a 1968 2wd GMC with a 305 V6 with a NP435. The only NP435 I ever saw in a GM truck. GM trucks typically had a SM465, which was used from 1968-1991. Prior to the SM465 the SM420 was GM's main trans.

The NP435 was made by New Process Gear from 1964 thru 1997. They are found primarily in Ford trucks from 1966 to 1992 and Dodge trucks from 1964 to 1993. They also had limited distribution in GM & Chevrolet trucks from 1968-1972. They are also found in some IH and industrial applications.

Yep. Its the ratios. The gearbox gear ratios are compatible with my transfercase and R&P gearing. A set of Chevy close ratio gears can be placed into a Ford case and provide me with a very compatible set of gears.

The Ford boxes are all granny first which would give me something like 80:1 at the axle in low range first. I'm a 55:1 low first kinda girl.
