It's buried in the episode, but he talks about some of the reasons why. Large openings in the fender liner for suspension, engine options, etc. From a hardcore 4x4 perspective though.
Suspension options pretty limited. Lift options limited too because of axle through oil pan design. Pretty low chassis means low ground clearance even with mild lift. I boosted the front of our Envoy 3/4" with spacers. the 4.2L six was a great motor. Wind noise inside is a bit problem...
Took it up to the Buffalo Boy mine tram house north of Silverton with four of us in it. It made it fine but there was some rock thunking underneath along the way. G80 available is nice but not for "wheeling". Interior space terribly for "overlanding" unless you get the LWB version, which is even worse offroad.
TLDR: Pick something else unless you plan to really rip it apart and go with big lift and SFA...
Some guy out here lifted an older ok ne of these, bigger tires on it. All black. Looks pretty good, reminds me of a WJ if I squint at a distance. Dont know what he had to do to get it that way, though
