Prove it with documentation.highlandercj-7 said:WRONG! It was available. I worked at a Dealership and drove several. 3/4T's had the 8 lug 8.5" 10 bolt and the 454. IIRC the 1/2t's were available too, but I can't swear by it, I know the 3/4T's did.
Back on topic, Anything built by Quigley, is tough and well built. I would love to see a Chevy with Duramax built by them. I used to work on a fleet of Quigley Ford vans. They did a amazing job on the fab work, very stout.
Here I will prove what I said.
http://brochures.slosh.com/index.shtml?1989 If you look at the specs page you will see the V2500 doe not show an optional engine where the R2500 offers the 454 as a option.
You could get a 400 in the late 70's in a 4x4 but it was less powerful then the 350 in 70 was. The 454 was not offered in 4x4. Its quite possible that with some trickery on a Order form that a few exist but it would be a VERY FEW. It would be one of the rarest GM trucks EVER.
I have never seen one nor do I know anybody that can provide a picture of a RPO plate showing a 454 4x4 as a factory build and I have been challenging people to do that for MANY year's. I use to Mod CK5.
