Probably the chassis is 1981 but it looks fully restored as a modern D90 with the TD5 diesel engine.

Inthe UK the 2000 vina details would be worth more
than a rusted out 1981.....ie the Ploice are looking for 1981's being registered
and sold as 2000's.....the other way round.....duh stupid person...why make your car older....here's the new set of papers

the 81 vin probably means its not entirely legal in the US. same way classic Minis get registered here.
