Clone of ARB Intensity LED Driving Light/Light Force 250!

9" is way overkill for anything other than desert racing speeds.

I beg to differ.

If I could fit them, I would want the 9" canons too. 6.7s would fit....I just need to see more from them. 4.5s are not near enough for me.

I've only been looking at LED myself.
I have a couple of reasons for this (aka 'justifications)
1-I don't want to add an extra battery to an already heavy truck and LED tends to be the most bang for the watt
2-I like the traditional round light look on the bumper (ARB on an LR3) better than a bar
3-the shallow mounting depth of the ARB/similar will make accessing my winch clutch easier as it's already buried down in the bumper pretty good.

Yes, I know I don't really need the 9" lights, just trying to compare apples to apples. I'm certainly not looking for a desert race light. Not sure on the pricing of the smaller ARBs vs others?

My HID lights only draw 55w per light and put out a **** ton of light. No extra battery needed. I ran 4 of them on the roof of my patriot with stock battery. So running HID will not mean another battery. The price point of my setup is another super plus. You get 1500 dollars of out put for less than 200 bucks. In that I mean, My lights put out more light up the road than the intensitys, all the crappy light bars available (rigid, X, bd etc). I mean the 1500 dollar light bars etc. If you want light that just spreads wide, blue and barely gets past the high beam lights. go with a bar. If you want real light up the road, go with HID.

"If I could fit them" does not equate to "80mph whoops". Brodozer JKU indeed.

I'm done, apparently BJ Baldwin and Robby Gordon need to run the Hella blah-de-blah with the HID ebay special instead of whatever they're using now. Because you've got the power of the sun harnessed and any brighter will burn through walls.

Again, I said, I would love to run the 9" canons. The 4.5's are not enough, and light bars suck! I know what my lights do. Sorry if you don't see my way of looking at lighting. but doing 60mph on roads here, I want to see big ************* moose long before its in my vehicle. I will put it into your way of thinking being from TX and all. Think of a huge bull, walking on stilts with two oak trees on its head. They kill people on the roads here. hitting a deer is like hitting a dog, Hitting a moose is like having a small mountain come into your vehicle. been there and done that. Bright lights and I can see them much farther off. I don't care what Robby Gordon uses. Good for Robby Gordon.

I see the 9" ARBs are on Amazon for $700 ea currently; no other sizes shown. Anybody have price/availability on the other sizes or better pricing than Amazon?

I'd really like a set, but just can't justify $1400 for a pair of lights. Although I hate the idea, I'm actually considering the $120 ea. knock-offs. I'm not looking for mega-distance, more flood pattern.

I keep hoping ARB will drop their pricing eventually, but so far not so much.

You can get the 7" ARB Intensity part # AR21S (Spot) or AR21F (Flood) for $511 each plus the wiring loom at $78. Those are retail prices.

I do not know if it is me but would anyone like to see a light beam thread? Like a thread that states what your lights are, were and how they are mounted and pictures from inside vehicle and one from behind-ish if the light. Just a pure light thread, have a seperate thread for discussion.

It would sort of work, but differences in cameras etc would not be a comparison, more of a guide. It would be a good idea. I took a picture of my lights on, using my phone. It gives a good idea how far the beam goes. However, it does not give a accurate view of how wide the beam is in reality.

I didn't think of this but reference wise I guess it would be good. Just an idea.

Ok I'll bite one more time.

What about the 6.7", what's your beef with those?

I've actually been outside the borders of The Holy Empire of Texas a few times. And, have laid eyes on a real live Bullwinkle before. But what we have down here are miles and miles of arrow straight, dead flat (riiight) roads and hooved rodents about 1/4 the size called Whitetail. Little 100lb bastards that like nothing better than to dart out of nowhere to kill motorcyclists. In addition to them, we also have flat black feral hogs. Many of which are en excess of 200 lbs. These guys give ZERO ****s. And will stand in the road sniffing the pavement while you just cruise on and BAM. bacon. So, yeah there's a lot of ************ wildlife out there. I dualsport in Eastern Oklahoma quite a bit and one of the towns is actually named "Antlers, OK". The deer capitol of N. America. I've been fortunate but many of my fellow riders have not. And yes, I use an HID fog/spot setup on my 950 ADV from Touratech (the ARB of motorcycling) mostly because it was on there when I bought the bike used, but because it works well I have not felt the need to replace it with anything else.

I also use a dual hid helmet light setup for night racing offroad. So, I know the benefits of good lighting. And I feel like right now the light cannons are a better bang for the buck than the ARB.

YMMV.

nothing against the 6.7, They are fantastic. I was just commenting on the 9" is to large, and the 4.5 is not powerful enough for my liking. On my motorcycles, the 4.5s would be perfect as I slow down ALOT in the night on them. AAAAANNNNNNNDDDDDDD, I agree the Canons are way better bang for the buck. However, I am leery to pay upwards of 800 bucks for a new set of lights that would not be a significant upgrade over what my lights do now. That's what I was saying!

This is the funniest thread I have read in a long time. And to think I was stupid enough to "trade up" from my hid converted Baja Designs Soltecks to my Baja Designs 44" OnX when I should have went to Napa and just bought some Hellas and got a $50 HID conversion kit.

Yep, I agree. Saved a lot of money that's for sure. I bet when I boils down to it, Your HID Soltecks were lighting farther down the road, just just cant see it because of the huge amount of forgound light now.

CodyY, They do look interesting. No one has them around that I know of yet. but they look like they would put out better light than JWs. Hopfully someone will get a set soon.
