Colorado "Expedition"

So, I am currently in Colorado with my wife, daughter, and mutt. Bumming wireless when I can... So I am just starting this thread for when I get home to finish.

I will put a full trip report when I get home. But here are a few teaser pics. (there are a few more on my website HERE)

Right now its 24* in Canon City, Colorado with a 50% chance for snow. I am going to shoot for Medano Pass to the Great Sand Dunes NP tomorrow.

How's the snow in CO? Not much has fallen in northern NM yet. All the ski resorts have pushed back their openings in my neck of the woods. I always enjoy good CO pics. :Astrologist:

Snow is awful here. We got a bit this week, but not enough to make up for the deficit. But the deep cold spell is letting the resorts make more of the man-made stuff.

It's pretty thin and this is generous. I think the total natural accumulation in the northern and central mountains is about 10", give or take. No clue about the southern areas, I think they are doing better.

As usual, there are conflicting forecasts -- one (which I tend to trust more) said this will be a very deep winter, but we have not seen that yet, the other said below average to average.

Not much snow, and the runs that are open at the ski areas are in piss poor condition from what i've experienced so far. We trashed 6 pairs of skis yesterday at Keystone on the front side. Copper was decent on the top today but the bottome half on Main Vein was pretty scratchy. We're heading to Winter Park tomorrow so, it will be interesting to see what that's like. I've heard that they've been in really rough shape.

Well, the training lanes at Loveland are perfect and very firm -- like darn near injected.

Sorry for the massive thread hijack.

I'm working on a trip report. We just got home today and i'm beat. Pulled a 17 hour driving shift yesterday....
Watch in the top post for the updates.

Snow? 11 inches in Chama, New Mexico... But close to 14 at the summit of the pass.

This Louisiana boy has never driven on ice. Was a learning experience in true expedition style.
