Great write up and excellent pictures! I have been fixated on finding the ice cave area shown in your trip report and was hoping you might share? I was looking to include this in my plans for another road trip this summer and that would be a wickedly nice spot! I have tried the whole Google map search (20 hrs plus so far) without luck so just a FYI that you have done an excellent job of hiding this from the masses! Promise to leave no trace if you do share a PM with the coordinates. Cheers
I'd love to see the route too. Heck, I'll trade you for some hard to find spots in OR! ;-)
It's sad that we all feel the need to be protective of great spots. If everyone would just use common sense on the trail and pack out their garbage...

I have plans to do just that this summer (explore the Radium/Invermere area). It is an extra 16hrs of highway driving for me just to get close to the good stuff so its nice to have a pin to aim for. I did find 5 other possible routes including a fun hike/portage to a glacier lake that will beat this summers glacier approach by 7km. It is sad that we have to be protective of our discoveries as quoted above. I was involved in creating a "interesting" rock trail that was sponsored by Canadian Four Wheel Drive Magazine and Warn Industries back in the day. There was still worries back then 20 years ago about trail abuse (creating bypasses) and the whole tread lightly concept. Funny how some things never change. I did share a few discoveries in the day and one of the rock climbing areas we found on a rainy day 4x4 excursion now has over a 120 routes on it. I think I'll have fun looking regardless. The great pictures and story are my inspiration to find a few mountain trails for myself. Thanks to the OP for that!

That's really too bad, but I guess I understand. As my father and I are starting more overlanding trips, I'm collecting a personal database of trips we'd like to take. It will be a while before we head that far north, but if / when we do I may PM you. Maybe you can show us around. :bike_rider:

Ps. You wouldn't know Stu Manchester would you? He used to own a Tacoma and the name Addison rings a bell.

I appreciate the mutual respect for the discrete locations. We have an endless amount of terrain to explore here in Canada and I can onnly just encourage people to get out and explore! It's such a shame that there are so many disrespectful offroaders out there that ruin it for us good folk!
The green Tacoma is my Dad's and I helped him build it last year. He's got a few more mods incoming but it's definitely a rad and clean truck! He lives in Nelson BC, so you definitely saw it! haha

No doubt, it's why we chose this trip at this time of year. The Tamarack trees and that glacier made it feel otherwordly.
Unfortunately I will not be sharing the tracks. Please take no personal offense, I just have too much respect for these lands and not enough respect for all of the users of our beautiful public lands. Like I said above, head to BC and get out and explore, you will not be disappointed! If anyone is seriously planning a trip to our region, PM me and I may even be willing to tag alone or point you towards some good areas in general. I'm always keen to help the like minded, as I too don't mind the od local tip when I head out of town, but I definitely respect discretion and am not disappointed when I am left to explore at my own means.

There's definitely some great terrain around invermere, I've only had my dirt bike out there though, not the jeep. Does your group usually post up trips like this on untitled off-road? Looking to get some move overland type trips in compared to random journeys through McLean creek haha.

Nice job, great trip.

Im in the process right now of better equipping the jeep for long journeys,
basically getting it handling better on the highway and fabricating some new storage systems.
im pretty sure I've seen the tundra around town a few times.:drool:
