Conqueror Trailer Lights Wiring

I am sure some one has this figured out. Short of me chasing each wire I thought I would ask. Vehicles are wired to american standard 7 pin I do have a 4 pin step down plug. My question :
When I took apart the Conqueror Plug it had 2 red wires tied together, 2 black wires tied together, one white, and one gray. I assumed white was ground but I did not remove the bulbs and ohm out the other wires. I was unsucessful in getting everything to work correctly.

Anybody know the proper schematic for tieing into a US vehicle?

Thanks

I dont know if there is one. it seems like everyones set up has been different.
This is how mine ended up working.

A four way flat is pretty easy, you can use it on trailers with out electric brakes. On the trailer side the female prong (white wire) is the ground, the the first male prong (brown wire) is running lights, then left turn/brake (yellow wire), then right turn/brake (green wire). Usually, on most trailers I've messed with, the lights are grounded to the chassis of the trailer, and then the white wire is connected to the chassis as well.

thanks for the input
xjbanker as soon as the snow melts I will married up the plug with your drawing

What I need is the South African equavlant ..hah.. my guess is that does not exist. My last resort is to pull the current wires and lights, install LED's and rewire to us standard, i am not there yet

My Conqueror Compact was wired as per the diagram above. What took me some time to find was a couple of damaged and broken wires which blew the running light fuses everytime you turned them on.

My step B was to strip all wire out of the unit, rewire it completely with LED lights to the Standard US plan as listed in the link above.

A little different...

Old thread, I know, but I wanted to post my findings not only for others, but so I have a record as well! My Basecamp is completely different than the diagrams. Here is a rundown:

Purple - Right turn signal
Yellow/Green - Left turn signal
Brown - Running Lights
Blue - Tail Lights
Black - Ground

Black #2 and Red - 12V charge

I wired the 12V to a separate plug for a Toad charger and the rest like this (moving clockwise from the 12:00 position):
1:00 - Blue and Brown (tail and running lamps)
3:00 - Yellow/Green (LT turn)
5:00 - Black (ground)
7:00 - empty
9:00 - Purple (RT turn)
11:00 - empty
Center - empty

This was after a LOT of trial and error, but now everything works with he exception of backup lights, that is. But, it seems there isn't a wire for backup so I'm not losing any sleep over it. I hope this might help some Basecamp owners, if there are any left that haven't figured this out!

Working on my compact wiring now, I want to run a seven pin and the colors I have don't match what everyone else seems to have. I thought I had it wired right but when I tested it my amber rear lights got bright when I hit the brakes instead of the rear red lights. Everything else worked fine so I need to dig back into it this weekend.

I'm not sure if the compact has the same tail lights as the Basecamp, but I assume so. If that is the case, then do you mean that your outside (turn signal lights) get brighter with the brake? That's how mine runs, and I just swapped the lenses so that the yellow lenses are in the center with red on the outside. Because there are only 4 wires and a ground, I can only conclude that the center lights are only running lights. Of course, of this isn't your issue then I'm not sure what's going on.

Your best bet is to take a voltage tester and run 12v to each wire individually and see which lights turn on. Make a diagram of the connector and this should help in finding out what needs to go where. The link posted by REasley in this thread will help to decipher the leads from your vehicle.

I have a large (maybe 6") round red light and a smaller (maybe 4") round amber light at the bottom left/right of the red light. I think i know how to figure it out but I am left with a black wire and one other (dont remeber the color) I think these are for the battery control pannel? Maybe charge the trailer battery while driving? not sure. The control pannel and trailer lighting will be a winter project :wings:

You really have to get someone with a probe tester as these things were imported as parts and assembled here. When I spoke with the outfit that imported them (when I got my Conquest), they said that when they imported them, there were no instructions for assembly and that they learned by trial and error.
The earlier ones may have wires that are not in the right places, however, I suspect most have been sorted by now.
It would probably also explain why non-grade 8 bolts were found in some of the earlier models ... especially like yours that has the amber light on the back. Those were early Compacts.
I should note that some LED pucks are plug and play on the rear of the trailer (a pain to get the OEM pucks out, but once done, ... not so bad to get new in). These will reduce the draw pretty significantly and might stop fuses blowing. Hope that helps.
