Rando, I know you asked to be corrected if mistaken; and truthfully there has not been a reply yet. But, aren't there some awfully large assumptions being made. e.g., that this is indeed in a National Park?

Perhaps we should refrain from making such large assumptions or correct the conversation to be no longer about this specific act, but a hypothetical act of similar nature?

Interesting discussion given the complete lack of context. I would give the guy a break and assume he had the best of intentions and did nothing nefarious.

Unfortunately the photo IS in Great Sand Dunes National Park. The video that this is a still capture from is on the users photobucket site and it puts it in context as the Castle Creek area at Sand Dunes.

While I don't think this was a smart thing to do, I don't think it is that big a deal. What bothers me more is encouraging people to do stuff like this. It is exactly the opposite of "leave no trace".

PS I have no idea why this is in the Toyota section either.

Not sure about the Toyota thing either but on topic, at Lake McConaughey in Nebraska, as you drive in there is a huge concrete structure painted blue that says "leave only footprints". Because we see it every year, it has been something we have taught my nieces and nephews about enjoying the outdoors, to "take only pictures and leave only footprints". I guess my point is, if your gonna do it, go to Lake McConaughey next time, they advertise for it :)

Problem solved

the thing is, thats all if was... foot prints.... just thought it would be a cool picture.... it is sand, it was gone within 3 hrs. and i agree with the leave only footprints... but this isn't nessesarily advertising.... more like just a cool way of showing it.... i guess if we didn't put .COM it would have been fine, and not advertising right?!?!?!?!?!

oh for god sakes. Its a good pictures. **** happens, dont get your panties in a wad. Of course it doesnt follow the "leave no mark behind", if he had burned or engraved something permanent yeah get pissed. It's sand. and some of you need to go out and have fun and get the sand out of your...you know what
