I will be ordering some as soon as I decide which rim to mount them on...

I thought that would have been the easy part!

Those Yokohama Geolander ATS work great in the snow but have a very short life on the asphalt. Very soft tread.

for the 255/86-16 guys. My local mom n pops tire shop can have the Maxx 255/86-16 mounted balanced, life time bal/rotation and road hazard done for $244 a tire (out the door) and his warehouses show them in stock.

Level 8 has an awesome set of wheels in a bronze color that look awesome on taco's. Or find a set of TRD gunmetal wheels. either way your ride will look great.

Shocker

VanDOOM!
Well, I just ordered up a set of 5 265/75r16 for VanDOOM. I think the 255 or the 285 would be just a bit too tall to fit well. The 265's should be perfect. According to Cooper they are about 32" tall so a bit taller than most 265.

Now, if you want to get creative, you can check out Discount Tire Direct on eBay. They are offering a 100 off any purchase over 400. That makes the tires 160 a piece when order as a pair. So I just asked my local DT to match the 160 per tire price and voila, done.

$930 with tax and mounting for all 5. I am stoked.

Kojack- I am probably going with the level 8 trackers or pro comp (in the same style, 7069's I think?).

Wish there were more pictures of these on second gen taco's.

Great deal...
Anytime you can skate out under a grand for mount, balance, and alignment, you're looking good.

Enjoy!

I never actually tried to take a picture of them but I can testify that they certainly work as advertised. I'll go out on a limb and call them the best overall tire I've ever used for what I like to do.

I think you can see them a little in these pics:

Well I guess I've joined the club as my tires arrived today. I managed to head out after work and get them installed. Truck looks very different after having the BFG's on there for a little over 5 years.
I really need to get on installing my coil over conversion up front

Cooper Discoverer ST/Maxx, LT265/75R16 Load Range E, 3-ply sidewall.

Diameter 32.1”; Section Width 10.5”; Tread Width 8.45”; Tread Depth 18/32”; Weight 49#.

Installed 3/25/14. Purchased from America’s Tire/Discount Tire, $160 ea. + mounting/tax, etc. (Price match to Discount Tire Direct Ebay Store one-day coupon sale 3/15/14.)

Zero fitment issues on ’05 Nissan Xterra Off Road with 2” lift.

Too new to review – only 2 miles on them in these photos (ooh, virgin tires).

I chose the ST/Maxx over the Cooper Discoverer AT3 because I wanted 3-ply sidewalls and an aggressive tread for the sharp volcanic rock and logging debris common in my area, and because I think they look like an overlanding tire should look. Every review I’ve read tells me that I will love the way they work.
