I'm amazed by the X each and every time I go anywhere - what a great vehicle - Motor Trend picked it!!! The X turned 2 yrs old in June '09. Here's a video (well, 2) documenting the first year of ownership:

What's your take on the 750 lbs coils up front? Too much too little, or just right?

So, it all started simple enough...I wanted a vehicle that I could load up for the weekend and go camping with as well as transport my kayak.

I really had no plans of doing ANYTHING to the X. That is, until I found out what it could do - as a stocker. Well, then I wanted more out of it. So, first thing, was bigger meats - while I was at it, I stealthed the wheels with Duplicolor spray on bed liner.

Then it was time to lift it. I went with PRG's advanced 4WD setup. This includes new UCA's, front coilovers, rear shackles, an AAL, and new rear shocks. Total lift was somewhere around 3"

After lifting, I placed my order with Shrockworks...what a bill that was. Anyway, in between ordering and receiving (it takes forever), I hit a deer - just in time for a new front bumper. The insurance money actually paid for my Shrockworks front bumper - BONUS!!!

I then needed extra storage room, so I got a Yak Load Warrior. In addition, I added some lights.

After doing a x-country xcursion, I really noticed how top-heavy the truck was with a load up top. That, and I really couldn't fit a ton of gear up top. Solution - GOBI. It's expensive as hell, but for expedition style travel, it's almost a necessity.

Well, after wheeling hard for 8 months, my rear leafs were pretty much flat. Solution - ALCANS

What a difference these things make. First of all, I gained my rear lift back (and then some). I also increased my load carrying capacity by 300#. These things are awesome!

And that folks, is where it stands today.

Future mods include:
OBA - in the garage, just needs to be installed
Dual Battery setup

With the added weight up front from the bumper and the winch, the 750# coils are a necessity. I also removed the front swaybar - which I wouldn't have done without the stiffer coils.

Dude, your X is the best 2Gen I've ever seen!!! Totally awesome, I'm insane jealous.

This is just how I want my wife's X to look like when after we get it (paying off my Fronty, then trading in her 4Runner for an X).


Isn't it amazing how much it just seems to get better each time you drive it?

Mmm, not really. I do enjoy that aspect of still having IFS on my rig. Yes I'd love to have the SAS but right now I really can't justify the cost of it.

SAS will come WHEN I blow the front diff...notice when and not IF (they're known to be the weak link)

OR, I'll go with a Titan swap (front end incl. suspension)
