Dana Designs Backpack...signed by Dana.

I've decided to part with a treasure. I have a Dana Designs Terraplane Anniversary pack. This was signed by Dana Gleason in '97, I think. I did a 2 night trip with Dana Gleason and some of the Dana crew in Yosemite in '97 and this pack was part of that trip. As a point of pride, Dana made all of the Anniversary packs himself....okay...just the lids....but that's a nice gesture. I used it on two trips. Each only a couple nights long. I'd qualify this pack as near new or mint condition.

This pack retailed for about $535. I got it on a smokin' deal. I'm selling it for $175.00.

This pack featured some revolutionary designs that still trump much of what's available today. The sides and bottom are SPANDURA which is an exotic 1000 denier cordura with 17% elasticity to it. The lid converts to a robust fanny pack....just a fantastic pack for hauling those big loads. It really loves 40-75lbs loads.

I'm selling it because my mountaineering days are numbered and I have a non-Anniversary Terraplane that I use for the rough stuff.

This is a Medium pack that comes with a medium belt and a large belt. Summer packing and winter packing often require two belts. Each belt is a $50 value.

Here's a factory photo in the Anniversary color: http://www.outdoorreview.com/Channels/OutdoorReview/images/products/product_77040.jpg

Capacity is 5500 cubic inches as I recall. Ideal for anything over 2 nights. I've lugged 80lbs of mountaineering gear in my other Terraplane and lived. Great packs.

I have that pack in orange. Very awesome pack! Comfortable and tough. I've done many trips with it from 1 night to 8 nights. I've had mine around 10-12 years.

Someone buy this! It's a smoking deal and you won't be disappointed in a Dana pack.

A couple things to point out. The pack is a medium and the belt is a custom belt between a Med and a Large. I'm 6'1 with a moderately shortish torso. I imagine this would fit anyone between 5"10 and 6'2" depending on torso length. The belt fits a waist range between 30" and 38".

A word about fit: I'm willing to ship this sans payment to make sure it fits. The buyer can pay me when they determine the fit is appropriate.

A couple key features to point out:

This is pack number 35 out of a series of 100 made. I asked Dana to make some tweaks for me. This pack has two side access zippers (only on the anniversary model) but I had him use #10 YKK zippers on both sides as well as use the 1000 denier stretch cordura on the sides. I think the last 15 Anniversary packs had the same features....I didn't get credit for that. :(

The lower sleeping bag compartment is also 1000 denier stretch cordura with #10 nickle plated YKK zipper sliders.

I'm including the "Beaver Tail" in the purchase, but my rain cover for this pack is probably the wrong size. Too small.

Condition: For those of you that know packs, Cordura is prone to scratch and pill. There isn't a single sign of wear on this pack. However...10 years of storage revealed a couple small stains on the lid. You can't even see them in the photo. both are little dots half the size of a dime. Primo condition.

Thanks,
Christophe

I have this pack in orange, bought it used as well. Honestly, it's the toughest pack I've ever had. It's completely bomber, and will haul a huge load without breaking a sweat. These are true expedition, big mountain packs. I do believe they have a lifetime warranty, but coul be wrong on that. Anyway, good luck with the sale, someone is getting a killer deal on a pack that will outlast many of us.
