G'day everyone

Thought I'd share with you my rig as I see there's a quite a few good rigs on the site already, that I'm rather impressed with.

I'm from Perth, Western Australia.

This is my 2006 Toyota Hilux SR5 which I have spent 7 months building up to be a capable touring vehicle for myself, wife & kids.

I choose the Hilux because of it's size, plenty of cab space, leg room for passengers in the back was pretty good and the amount of tray size meant carrying plenty of gear easily and you can't hear stuff moving around!

I also built and run a very popular web site called NewHilux.net, which features over 140 newer model Hilux's, it's turned out to be a great resource portal for the new Hilux. Check it out sometime, www.newhilux.net

Anyhow, here's the specifications on what I have currently got on the Hilux.

Specs:

Safari Snorkel
40mm Bluemax suspension kit
Lightforce 240 XGT's
5x 31/10.5/15 BFG All Terrains
ARB Deluxe winch bar (colour coded)
ARB Rear tow bar (colour coded)
ARB Side Steps (colour coded)
ARB Fiberglass smooth canopy (colour coded)
ARB Canopy Roof Racks
ARB Simpson Roof Tent
Tracklander Roof Rack over cab
Custom Annexe to suit the Roof Top Tent
Black Widow Awning
Warn XD9000 winch
Dual battery setup (RedArc + two 105Ah Batts)
K&N Long range 135l fuel tank
Pioneer 6.5" in-dash DVD touch screen
Pioneer 6.5" Bullet Splits (front speakers)
Pioneer 12" Slimline Sub (mounted behind rear seat)
Rockford Fosgate Punch 60 Amp
GME TX3600 UHF+antenna (remote head)
Compaq Ipac 3660 + GPS (Ozi Explorer)
Bell XR Radar Detector
Waeco CF50 fridge
Waeco fridge slide
Custom number plates "D4D"
Rear storage draws
Shurflo water pump
OL 55L Water tank
Custom head & tail light covers from ORE

I am currently also getting a custom built single rear wheel carrier welded onto the ARB step which will allow my Codan HF radio autotune antenna to be mounted properly.
An overhead roof console has also been ordered, so my remote head Codan HF radio can be mounted up in that.
Also awaiting some ARB Air Lockers F&R once that gets finished, which will make the vehicle fairly complete then.

Here's some of the pics:

Welcome to ExPo Dave! :26_7_2:

My truck wants to be your truck when it grows up! Please tell us more about your vehicle and your adventures with it.

I'm specifically interested in your rear drawer system. Did you build them yourself?

Hi Pete,

I will post up some pics of travels I have completed so far very soon, maybe on another thread?

Yeah the draws I built myself, they were simple and I saved heaps building them... a member of my site has provided some good instructions and photos of his draws he built up which are almost identical to mine, take a look. http://www.newhilux.net/index.php?view=article&item=43

Enjoy :)

Very cool, I love the off centered hood scoop, also what kind of rack are you using to support the tent?

Also welcome to the Portal!

Very nice!!

A couple years ago I spent 30 days in Freemantle/Perth. Even took a weekend surf trip to Margaret River. I want to move to W.A.!!!!

oh man - I love to see the new Tacoma build ups! That is a really well thought out plan.

I too am curious as to how the shell is supporting the weight of the rack and tent with people etc. I plan on having an exo-skeleton rack built to go around my shell so I can mount my tent etc. I would love to see some pics of how you managed this solution.

Again, very well done!
