Davidshourd's Frontier Build

Just got back from a three day dusty camping trip. I used the foam filter with some of the K&N filter oil on it. I cut a 6" square piece and put it over the top of the snorkel then jambed the ram head over it. it made a huge difference. end of the first day the thing was just a big dirt ball. so I opened up the volant box to see if it actually kept the dust off, seems to have worked great. was no sign of dust in the volant box. so a cheap prefilter slution consists of 1/2" thick foam AC filter sprayed down with K&N filter oil. I will get a post of the filter after a day out driving back gravel/dirt roads.
the "adapter" plate appears to be working well too, no signs of dust seeping around it.

update: finally recieved the prefilter from AirFlow in Australia. for those of you that missed my previous post: AirFlow said they would send me a free pre-filter if I sent them some shots of my truck with their snorkel on. well, 2 months later it arrived. ha.

That is an interesting pre-filter I pictured one like on the Safari snorkels. I like that one because it is concealed in the snorkel body. I hope it works out for ya.

I think it should work great given my little make shift filter I used last weekend worked as well as it did. I am concerned at how well I will be able to clean this one though. I will keep you posted.

3. us coming to another dead end logging road in persuit of a mountain lake.
4. picture of my homemade prefilter after a day on back gravel roads.

Went camping witha buddy and the girlfriend last night. had to work saturday so we only got one night in but found an amazing spot just north of Mt Hood. Amazing view of hood once the clouds parted at dusk. we came in via 26 and then 18, we headed out by continueing on 18 to 13 and hit some mountain lakes up and came out at Hood River. saw some sweet rigs in Hood River, couple Sportmobiles, sprinter vans decked out for camping and even a EarthRoamer Jeep (silver). the Earthroamer was at a field with some sidecart bikes zooming around, looked like maybe a class of some sort. I think I have seen a guy on this site with one of those earthroamers from Portland?

It has been a really nice summer out here in Portland, when we were out on the lake (crawfish pictures) it was in the 90's, last night up around Mt. Hood it was a high of 70 with a low of mid 40's. so probably an avg of 80 this last summer.

went camping around MT hood, Mt st Helens and Mt Adams over the weekend. had some amazing views and temps from 75 on friday night to 39 saturday night. found some real sweet roads going up and over from the columbia river over to MT Adams. Still amazed at how well the truck handles even with the camper.

got my ARB awning mounted and headed out over and around Mt. Hood area. couple shots from the weekend. If you have not checked out Timerbline Lodge up on Hood, do so, a real amazing piece of work! even ran across fellow FWC on a Tacoma up there.

I have been searching for a deal on some Rigid Industries or Vision X 2" LED lights for a while and finally found a deal on Rigid Industries, a set up of two with full plug and play wiring harness. I tapped the power in off of my driving lights and ran a switch into the cab. I went for the "spot" pattern instead of the flood as the KC's I have in my bumper put out a nice spread in the 50-100' range. I will get some night shots here this weekend. These things are amazing bright and are only 3" square and about 3.5" deep, with 4 LED's per unit. brighter and further/clearer then the 100W KC's I have and they only draw 10watts at less them 5amps. thats less then your turn signals or glove box light! and their bullet proof, really, google it. they are rated at 1000 lumens each, 100 Watt H4 Halogen will produce 1750 Lumens but this light is "whiter" so appears brighter and clearer, IMO.

I've been following people who have used these lights - everyone seems to be impressed! Maybe you could get us a few night time shots of how your setup functions? I would appreciate it :)
