dead GPS, ideas?

I have a Garmin GPS III plus which inexplicably stopped working recently. I have taken the batteries out to "reset" it, but, it still won't power on.

Anybody with similar experience or a fix?

The only thing I can think of is the internal backup battery died, but would that keep it from powering up when fresh batteries are installed or it is powered directly from 12v?

Check the battery cover and make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts.

From there...send it to Garmin....Best customer service experience I have had in a LONG time.

Yup send it in to Garmin, I have yet to hear of a dissatisfied person with regard to their customer service. Had a friend who wiped out his BMW GS1150 and smashed his Garmin 76 screen and cracked the housing. Sent it in and they sent him back a new one. I've heard this from so many people and never bad account.

My 276c has seen over 12,000mi on the handlbar of my motocycles, been dumped in rivers and taken a lot of shocks, it still works fine but it's good to know it's still covered by their great customer service. I'll be a Garmin customer for a long time I think.
