Diesel FJ40 - Anyone here?

That is a very good price. Maybe too good?

Agreed... unless it's a fire sale. Regular FJ40's in that kind of shape (based on pictures, I've never seen this in person) go for well north of 11k up here. I can only imagine the prices you guys see in Southern California.

A BJ42 would be worth mint to the right person.

Not 100% but it looks like a standard boat/utility winch. It's hard to judge it's size, but if I had to wager a guess I would say it's not necessarily used for extraction so much as to winch smaller objects... maybe a boat or smaller logs?

This was my old FJ 40 / 4 speed with the original factory soft top and converted to a BJ. Used a 3B engine, not from a BJ40 but from a Coaster bus which still had all 24 volt electrics and then rewired the FJ to suit. Fuel consumption was great...... around 1000 kilometers using 120 liters of fuel. When I bought the original FJ, the guy threw in another 120 litre tank but it took up too much room behind the seats so stayed with the original and a second tank under the front seats giving 120 liters combined....and 2000km range would have been ridiculous anyway. Fitted with Recaro seats, Ultimate Suspension, Donaldson air cleaner, etc.

I would never own another FJ with the price of fuel here but if a nice BJ came up at the right price I think I'd be into it. There are plenty of custom FJ V8's with full fibreglass bodies running around here though.

I would just upload to picasa or photobucket, etc., and then embed images from there. That way you aren't at the mercy of whatever patching or software this (or any) forum uses. Just use the bbcode "img" tag enclosed in square brackets, then the URL of your pic, then the same tag with a "/img" closing.

Every time I see one of your posts I just want to go back to OZ... AS to the OP, yeah I feel that price on the CL add is a bit suspect aye. Friend paid ALOT more then that for ALOT rougher truck. He's now looking to sell his RHD 2B powered truck. I think I may HAVE to buy it cause I can't stand to think of a Diesel Powered Cruiser slipping through my hands.
