Here is our 2008 SE with all the bells and whistle's we got it secondhand and were very pleased to find out that we have the lockers. (woo hoo) Here i thought i was an accomplished driver, apparently the truck is better than me still. We have a decent amount of tread on the Toyo Proxes STII's it came with, those will be switched as soon as the tread is gone. Lift rods in hand. Full Asfir underbody, urban offroad sliders and custom rack (beefed up the crossmembers so the wife can stand on the rack in more spots for snapping pics). More to come, i just have to get the wife a newer one so this one can be mine.

With the LR3/LR4 becoming more popular for overland travel, let's post up our Land Rovers as a good reference for modifications and the variety of approach. It would be helpful to add some details on the truck too, like year, model, list of modifications, etc.

Here are a few for inspiration

Does anyone know who makes the roofrack on this black LR3? I have looked all over the place and can't find it. Thank you

Just bought it a few weeks ago. It was already tricked out and I couldn't resist. Such a step up from the DII. Haven't had a chance to get it on a trail so I'm posting a shot from the dealer lot.

Anyone by chance recognize the truck? It's been in CO for the last few years. Just wondering if the previous owner might be around ExPo.

Here is my 05. It's a base model V8 SE. It's a five seater with very few accessories, no Nav, etc. Mods are limited to shorter rods and IIDTool lift, 265/65/18 Falken AT, and I just finished the rack to keep my old Grumman canoe off of all the glass.

I'm currently considering a 2005 SE V8 and wondered what type of real world gas mileage LR3 owners are getting. I'll likely be driving 80% hwy, 20% city at between 55-60 mph. My friend bought an LR3 a year or so back and feels he is getting about 30-40% better gas mileage than his old Disco 1. My commute is about 100 miles round trip per day so if this is going to be up there like my former 4.6 D2, it might not be the best option as it was seeing less than 350 miles per tank. I'm currently driving a 97 D1 300Tdi auto which gets about 24-26 US MPG but she is a bit chilly this time of year (-15C this morning!). I know I'm not going to get mileage like that but I just would like to work out how much more per week I'll be paying for fuel with an LR3. Thanks for any input provided.

According to the on board computer, I average about 14.5 MPG. That is split about 60% highway (w/ lots of stop and go congestion) and 40% city driving. '06, V8, HSE, 75,000miles. On a trip with 90%+ highway, the computer calculates slightly over 18 MPG until you slow down in a town.

My lifted d1 gets 13 and my stock 08 LR3 is seeing around 17.5mpg with mostly rural driving (55-60 mph and stop signs often). The ride quality, however makes almost any gas mileage worth it!

Do some research on early LR3s, they were a little finicky at times. The general rule is to buy the newest, lowest mileage you can afford.

Mine gets decent mileage on the highway...probably about 370 miles/tank. Unfortunately I drive in town every day, so I tend to get about 300/tank. Of course, mine is pretty well loaded with bumper, winch, roof rack, etc. I also have slightly larger tires.
