I know your still on TTORA a lot... have you heard anything from JT about there 4.56? I am thinking it might be a smart thing to do before we head back across country.

I took a look at All Pro's site and saw they have 4.56 gear for 05+ Tacomas. Is there a reason not to go with them?

Hey Phil, if you find a reliable/recommended shop in your area or around Portland, Bend, let me know as I will be doing gears eventually one day. I really don't think there is a good place in KFalls.

I will have it done at the shop I am a lot attendant at. I have become friends with a tech at the shop who knows a lot of info about 4x4s and Tacoma's. I trust him with anything I can't do myself. His name is Garren Teed (I kid you not) He's guaranteed to get the job done right:)

The shop is Sun Automotive in Springfield.

Sorry for the Hijack.

JT is saying end of June... they are offering a thicker gearset for the front that does not require a new carrier so that alone saves over $300 by re-using the 3.73 carrier...

Allpro would cost me more money.

Cool! Yes that would be a considerable about more to spend. Something I don't have enough of to waste over the next few months.

Not to barge in but I've had my 4:56 gears with the larger gear from JT's for about a month and half now. I'm getting ready to put them in soon. I'm surprised there saying end of June, unless I got one of the first sets?

They had a few "prototype" sets from the manufacturer... you got one of the first sets!

ah I guess that would make sense now. Hopefully the prototype sets are just as strong as the production sets.

PS - thanks for the sway bar tip (remove) TACODOC. Love the new found flex and softer ride :)

Glad you like it!

Looks like I may be selling mine now, we'll see if there is a buyer!

I don't really like the newer tacos, but I do like yours. They are a bitter sweet rig, mine being bitter and yours being sweet. Good luck with the decision.

Bummer. Well someone will get a really great truck.

Oh sure... the day I install my lift he decides to sell MY dream truck. You couldn't have decided to do this last week and saved me a lot of hassle? :violent-smiley-031:
