You can get either of those brands here but, they are not DOT approved. My uncle ran a set of the simex on his M37 as a farm implement tire.

Yeah, they aren't approved for road use here either, but that doesnt stop heaps of people driving them on the roads.

Heres a video below of some local aussie fella's offroading in the forests round here, almost all are running either Jungle Trekkers or Centipedes......it should give you a good idea of what they can do in extreme situations.

Closest thing would be an SSR from interco. Awesome all condition tire.

What about the new GoodYear MT/R Kevlar in a 305/70R17. That is what I am looking into... GoodYear says it is just over 34" so it should end up being just about perfect.

I really like the set up on Jacket's truck, I have the same thought only with a 35 x 10.50 x 16 Swamper SSR (radial) on the Toyota steel wheel. I'm not crazy about the SSR compared to a KM 2 or an MTR, having had all three... But it's a great size.

Also Swamper has the Q 78 in a 15 and 16, really LOUD tire at speed but a very tough tire. We abused a set through the jungles of Venezuela and had no issues.

x2 I'll be looking at that tire too when it comes time, but Tacodoc, I've been very happy with my Cooper STT's!

Thanks for all the replies. This decision will come down to a few factors:

Price - What will the best deal be when I get back?

Availability - Can I get them?

Size - Although I'd like to go a little bigger (35's), but if/when I do that will require trimming and a few other tweeks to keep things straight. This would add cost and time/effort so considering that, a larger size and the required mods might be better on the next set of tires.

By the time I get home it will be time to get her back on the road as soon as possible!!!

I'm down to a few choices now. BFG MT KM2, Goodyear MTR's, and Cooper STT's.

I have always like the idea of the aggressive MT/AT style ******** Cepek Fun Country II's but don't know anyone who has run them. Opinions?

I was going to argue that price and availability argue in favor of the Maxxis Bighorn in 255/85, but at the bottom of your post looks like you have ruled out this tire.

Over the past several weeks I have read everything I could find and did a fair amount of research regarding the ******** Cepek FCII. I would buy 285/75 as there are no 255s. I really like the tire they just don't seem to be overly popular so information/opinions about them are few. I did start a thread weeks ago about my consideration of Cooper S/T-C, Mickey Thompson MTZ, or DC FCII in 285/75R16, you might have a look.

Thanks for the input James, I overlooked the Bighorns and had all but forgotten about the MTZ's

I went out yesterday and hammered it pretty good. I am now reconsidering anything bigger than a 33. I rubbed pretty bad as it is at full stuff at all corners. Yeah you could get bigger in there, but the bumpstops would have to be modified quite a bit, taking away the limited travel we have already.... But for belly clearance,,,,,it might be worth it.... But for now, I need some BudBuilt skids.
