I have ONE payment left on my truck and its all mine. So, in celebration of this event:wings: I finally got some new tires worthy of showing off and I thought I'd post some pics and brag him a little bit. Besides, some domestic love cant hurt.
Its 1999 Dodge 1/2 Ram with a 318 V-8, automatic. I bought it as a replacement for my FJ-62 Land Cruiser. I still got the Land Cruiser but it needs a lot of work to get back up off road ready, let alone daily driver level. I opted for the fullsize domestic as I needed a good rig that could tow my buggy and fit me. I stand 6'7" and 230 lbs. I also had to think about sleepin/camping room. Now with a wife that is 6' herself that pretty much scratched every SUV out there.
After looking at the current models in my price range, the Dodge had the most (by far) storage room behind the seat and came with a solid axle.
Done deal.
I have been working on it quite a bit over the years and I have made several upgrades and additions:
3" Pro-Comp Lift and shocks.
Ramsey 9500 Winch
4 x Pro-Comp 55 Watt Lights and 2 Hella's
Camper Shell
Front and rear bumpers, roof rack and sliders.
CB, Fire Ext. and stocked full of recovery gear, cooking, camping and outdoor gear.
This my boy out around Gila Bend this weekend.
Now that big day is upon us, I started the revamp/rebuild/modiy stage. I know that I am keeping this truck for years to come and have a bit more free cash to spend on it. The first big jump was the snorkel. I custom made it out of 3" exhaust tube. I wont lie, it was hard and there was a lot of welding and grinding. The hood lines of the Dodge are not freindly at ALL for a snorkel.
Next up will be a new rook rack as the one I have is trashed from years of carrying steel back to the shop and build some new alunimum shelves/cabinets inside that camper. :jumping:
