Does a Good Knife have to = Expensive?

I spent some $$ on my daily carry knife to assure a lasting tool, warranty on the knife, and quality associated with the brand.

My use does not include stripping carcasses in the field, felling trees for firewood, etc., but more utilitarian things like opening boxes and cloth soil sample bags, trimming grade ribbon, and such. I do occasionally use the blade for steak or chicken at restaurants or family dinner, cutting vegetables for the camp meals and don't have any problems.

Secondly, once upon a time as a substitute teacher, I had the comfort of defense.
