Does anyone know about ARK Portable battery boxes and where to buy them

Brett, no errors when I got home, but still at 12.5V, and has only done testing and discharge cycles.

Just now I did a Google search to find the amp hour rating of my battery, and it is not 120, but 100 according to this PDF file I found on the bottom of page 5.
http://www.exide.com/Media/files/Do...nload/Exide Marine Battery Owner's Manual.pdf

Did running the ArkPak for the past few days at 120 amp rating do harm to the battery?
I will see what it says about 9 hours from now when I get up to get ready for work.

Hi Corey

Thanks for the update on your Ark Pak i have double checked with Exide Australia and i can now give an update the XMC-31 which is sold in Australia is rated to 120AMP Hours but the XMC 31 which is solid in the USA only has a 100 AMP rating the answer was given is Australia does not suffer from serve weather extremes like the USA example very cold/snowy winters.

you will not damage your XMC-31 by having the battery AMP Hour rating at 120AMP hour or 100AMP, all that will happen is the charge % will drop quicker then normal, the way in which you could affect your battery is telling the Ark Pak that you have say a Calcium battery in it when in fact you have say a Gel battery, this is because the calcium batteries will accept a higher charge then a Gel battery refer to page 4 of your instruction manual it will say charge control these are the max volts they will get to the battery under a boost cycle.

this is why the Ark Pak will ask every time have you changed your battery as it does not want to give it the incorrect charge cycle.

Another possible reason for the Alarm check battery could have come up is if you are charging it and at the same time have say your fridge plugged into it refer to page 15 point 5 under Alarm messages on LCD screen.

please keep me updated and let me know how you go

Thanks Brett for the info.
Still in discharge cycle and 12.5V, and 99% charged.
Cannot get it back to 100% and 12.6V like when I first started charging it last weekend.

Will check on it 12/13 hours from now when I am home from work.

Thanks, I drained it down to around 12.3V with some stuff running as in a LED lantern, and had the inverter kicked in running a 110V fan.
Unplugged them later and put the charger back on, and saw the voltage go up to 12.7V when charging, then evened off at 12.6V later, so it seems to be working.

Pretty quiet unit even when the fan/LED screen is going.

Arghhhhhhh, woke up this morning and the LED screen is flashing a warning to check my battery, same as it did a week or so back.
Have it unplugged right now, and will plug it back in and turn the LED back on.
Do not know what is up with that, and it was at 12.4V.

Yeah, just keep watching it. It's like the battery stock market at Sears

For those that are looking at the Sears Platinum Marine size 31. I went yesterday with my oldest Die Hard P-5 to see if it would hold a charge. It did not, and they gave me credit ( $199) towards a new battery. Online, the price is $231.99 on sale for the size 31, but the store price is still $289. At the counter, they could not give me the online price. I went ahead and paid the additional $90. However, Sears does have a price match policy and they are supposed to price match their online price, but you have to go to the customer service counter. I'll be going there tomorrow after work. They say that they will price match within 30 days, so I might hold off and see if the price drops again online.

Hmm. Weird that they won't match their online price since when I look up batteries it tells me that it can't be ordered online and I would have to go to the store!

I received my ARB 50 fridge a couple of days ago so have decided to test the Arkpak. Ran the fridge for 24 plus hours to cool it down and plugged it into the 12v plug. The Arkpak showed 13.1 V and 100%. 30 minutes later it is reading 12.4V and 96%. Appears that the battery is discharging way too fast if I am not supposed to let it get below 12.2V without recharging it. Any suggestions?

Ed, what is the highest voltage you saw yours at while on the charger?
Mine has been off and on the charger all week long, and it is sitting right now at 12.4V and 96%.
Some is going on with mine, as it will not get at 100% now.

Corey,

It hit 14.1 V during the boost cycle but has consistently been between 13.1 & 13.4 V during the float cycle. The Arkpak has now settled at 12.8V for my fridge test and shows 100% for the last couple of hours. Maybe just a learning curve for me on this.

Today I connected the ArkPak to the car battery and charged the fridge from 22 to -4. After 5 min I got the warning “Alarm open circuit”. This is not the first time I got this alarm I usually disconnect the charger for 20 min and after everything is ok. This time I connected the mains supply charger, It stated the charging cycle again and it was charging between 14.5 to 14.6, the fridge started working again and once it cut out the charge went up to 15.2 for a few seconds and I got “Alarm open circuit” again. What can be causing this?
