It’s funny how things work out, sometimes there is just no substitute for learning life lessons if you don’t actually going through the motions. After realizing that we would only be losing money if we sold the entire truck, selling the camper at the time seemed like the next best logical option. However as we tried to dream up all the other possible alternatives for a home on wheels we quickly realized that while it is a bummer that I blew way past our budget to build our setup, we are actually currently in the only setup that meets the majority of our needs/wants.
Looking back there are certain things we would have done differently knowing what we know now m, such as going with the Hawk model and storage tunnels along with the Norweld tray that doesn’t have the water tank or slideout drawer. Still the reality is that most people don’t make the “poor” decisions that we made and typically earn their stripes by starting in a very basic build and learning first hand what they need and don’t need in a setup. I know this all too well now but it’s safe to say it is far too late to change that so onward and upward we go!
With all this in mind our current setup still does not check all of our boxes for what we desire in our home/camper but all this brainstorming I have been doing lately helped inspire a few upgrades/edits I can make to get closer to what we want. I’ve realized that building an off road setup that doubles as a home is a terribly difficult challenge but all in all I don’t regret going a slightly different route than #vanlife haha
Further, through this little escapade I have been inspired to share all of the things that I have learned about this style of build so that hopefully other people going a similar route can learn from my mistakes and adapt their builds accordingly. If you like the build keep an eye out for a build/travels thread that I’ll be starting in the coming weeks!
And last but not least thanks to everyone who gave me support on attempting this sale and maybe even more thanks to the ******t talkers
haha cause if someone had bought our truck that might have actually been the real mistake here!
