A little weblog on my trip from Prescott to the Land Rover National Rally in a 2007 Land Rover Defender 110 Td5

The goal was to take as many dirt roads as possible from SLC to Dinosaur, CO. Everything was pretty mellow until the rain came - HARD!

We were stuck down in Nine Mile Canyon

The storm continued to build, the rain was torrential and the road became the river. But everything still seemed ok, and high ground was available.

Then is got worse - the water breached the drainages and began flooding the road. Time was of the essence, but not so much to miss a few photos

Nathan met up with Paul May and I for a few days of rambling through Utah.

From nine mile, we headed over to Dinosaur NM, and a great backroad. Our camp is shown in the first image.

Every time I see a newer Defender here I wonder how It got here. Is it top secret?

I wish I could make it to the rally but that's a really long drive for me. Maybe someday.

Dinosaur NM is a sleeper. There were only a few cars in the entire part, and it is beautiful, the Green River slicing through the sandstone like a knife. The sandstone assumes a palette of colors, from near granite to deep reds.
