I've driven one in New Zealand with a manual transmission with the stick unusually positioned on the column. Makes sense though, you gain extra space for a passenger next to the driver with bench seats.

Kind of like the Honda Element.

I would sell my Taco and FJ40 and buy one of these suckers in a heartbeat if they offered them here.

Here is the problem though: number of guys on this board willing to buy them maybe (15) - number of guys on ih8mud (30) - numer of others (50). I cant see them selling many more than that, unless there is a commercial market for them that the domestic vehicles can't support.

I'd suggest Toyota North America do a limited run of 500 of them to test the waters. Kinda how Land Rover did with the ~500 of the 1993 Defender 110 NAS (North American Spec). And hope that Toyota does not ax it like Land Rover did with the Defender.

I sure don't see many of us buying the current 2008/2009 Land Cruiser where the base price starts at $63,000. :Wow1:
