Been making some modifications and additions to my rear storage this week, and I think that I might have it pretty much wrapped up outside of some small finishing touches.
First up was removing the spare compartment cover and cutting an access hole under the drawer. I just kept thinking that IF something did go wrong with anything under there, it would be a super huge pain to have to pull the entire unit and everything on it out just to get some work done. At least this way I can do an emergency repair or what have you just by pulling out the drawer.

Next up was finishing the water setup. Pretty simple, just made a spot to mount stuff and hooked it all back up. I left the air hose out of the mount in lieu of leaving a little gap at the wall so I am able to coil it up and slide it in next to the water mount, seemed much easier to not have it get all bunched up behind a wall I can’t easily get behind. I also made a short hose piece to add to the spigot so that the water exits outside the vehicle rather than right at the tailgate.

I then added a second “cubby” for some plastic baskets I slightly modified, I didn’t want to have another full size drawer because it would leave my dog with basically no room. Then I added some tie down mounts for what ever I put on top of the cubby.

Then it was time for the big one, the fridge slide.

I made the fridge slide so it included the area behind the fridge so as to make for getting at what ever I stash back there a little easier since I didn’t want the fridge coming out farther than the tail gate. So out side of some fridge anchors I think it’s ready for action.

Time for a little protection, I purchased a set of universal sliders that were slightly too long, shortened them a bit, and added some mounts, then went out and did some testing with them.

Went to a wheelin trail that I frequent just 10 min up the road from me, did the first handful of obstacles taking some lines I knew would use the rails a bit then turned around and did them again in the opposite direction. Need to get a full trail run in soon so I can really test this thing out but over all it felt pretty good. I took a couple of videos, maybe I’ll post them...? The camera does a really good job of making the obstacles look very docile lol
Next up will be some skid plate upgrades.

Looking good man! @howirolla are you going to plate the bottom of the sliders for some additional protection and slide-over use? I plan to eventually modify my TF sliders with some aluminum plate to the frame for those rocky portions and compressor protection. Not sure how long I'll have the EAS system as the long-term is for coils but I am looking at custom applications so my timing is a bit off.

Love seeing this beauty on the trails.........great work!

The only thing under there for me is the air tank, that isn’t in use due to my coil conversion anyway, but also, the two center legs actually go right under the tank so it should be pretty ok

Just got caught up on this, looks great!
Thank you!

So a buddy of mine got an awning he couldn’t use, asked if I wanted it, and I couldn’t pass up the deal. Ment a little extra work though cause it was a driver side open and that’s the side my tent opened on. So I got my tent flipped around, moved the cb antenna to the other side, and tossed the awning on.

The weather has finally been heating up out here, so I’ve been making sure to get some lake time in!

Spent 3 nights at a lake with some friends

True to my ways I managed nearly zero pictures lol
I did have an oops while out there though, in that there are a couple little easy going trails around the area, and I decided that I would try a dumb line on an obstacle, it was a little too tall/steep of a rock face for my approach angle to attempt without a spotter.

Not to serious thankfully as I backed off soon as I heard the crunch. So I’ll be needing to come up with a solution at some point in the near future.

couple things over the last bit of time, haven’t been able to get out and work on the rover let alone camp with all the fires and smoke issues we’ve been having. Got a few clear days and managed to tackle a couple of items. First off, got the front bumper temporarily fixed up, not perfect, but looks a lot better and should be ok till I get a real bumper going I think.

I then got some skid plate action started, kicked it off with a real simple one for the t-case

next one will be for under the transmission, I’ve got some ideas to help keep it simple, yet effective, without too much added weight hopefully.

As promised, I knocked out a trans skid.

Had the perfect amount of DOM laying around to use for the real strengthening of the skid, and skinned it with the same plate I used on the t-case.

The only thing I’m not happy about is the height difference between it and the t-case skid, but, it’s not much and I opted for simplicity and a bit of extra clearance where ever I could get it.

Been trying to get some maintenance handled before winter, got the plugs and air filters done, but need to get the belts done still, just plain ran out of time and the weather changed to rain and winter style cold already. Hopefully I can find the time/weather to get that wrapped up before the real winter hits.
