Duluth clothing

I did not want to clog up the pants thread with other clothing, so here is a new one for multiple stuff.

A few weeks back I ordered some clothing from Duluth Trading, their Rip Stop Performance pants and shorts, both items I shipped back as I swam in them.

I also got their CoolMax short sleeved shirt which I kept.
I wore the shirt to work yesterday, one of the hottest days yet here in Western Washington.
The shirt rocks, it kept me very cool, and not clammy like an all cotton T shirt which I normally wear to work.
I work outside all the time at work, and I can appreciate a shirt that I do not get clammy sweaty in.

Here is the shirt.

I like it so well I ordered two more this morning, and I also ordered the pants again in a size smaller.

All this talk about hats too in another thread I decided to try out one of theirs.

If the pants fit, I will let you know how I like them.
I will test them out at work like I did the shirt.
The pants will be for both work and play, so if I like them, I will be ordering more.

Hopefully the hat works out too.

I get their catalogs. I just wish that they would put in actual pictures of the items instead of drawings. However, I may have to try one of those shirts.

I could have used another one of those shirts today at work.
I have on a all cotton one, and it is not as cool as the CoolMax one for sure.

I second much of Duluth Trading products -
I've got two of the sun shirts in long sleeve. I also love my button up no tuck polo.

seconded... this is the only reason I have NEVER ordered from them. Kinda like the (I think it was) campmor catalogs that were newsprint with line drawings. So infuriating!

Fellas, if you're letting the catalog illustrations keep you from trying the stuff, you're missing out. Give 'em a try; they offer a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee, so you have little at risk.

I've been very happy with the stuff I've bought from Duluth Trading. I've got no affiliation other than as a satisfied customer; but I'm happy to recommend the company and its wares.

On a complete aside, and not to start arguments, I hate it when companies like Duluth say they have a 100% guarantee and then require you to pay return postage. There are a few companies (Zappos and eBags come to mind) that have prepaid postage for returns.

if you don't like the illustrations, be sure to let Rick know. He's kind of new at the game:coffeedrink: .

I do not mind the drawings at all in the Duluth catalogs.
Also I liked the fact I did not have to call them up first to send back the shorts and pants I ordered a few weeks back that were to big on me.

Yes, I had to pay shipping, around $10 for the box I stuffed them into.
I got an email too from them saying they had just credited my bank the money owed to me.

I will be a longtime Duluth customer.

My aerostitch catalog is my bible. It is one of the best, most well laid-out cats I get. It is also possible to see what you getting because it is well-illustrated.

I am no stranger to catalogs with illustrations. My own employer was known for employing Paul Brown as our artist in residence for all catalogs.

And I am sure the Duluth product is excellent, and from an artistic standpoint it is beautiful. But there is no reason at all that their website could not include a photo that shows me the actual color of the item, what the stitching looks like, how it absorbs light, etc. I can see that they have done that on a few items now. It is perfectly fine to embrace your heritage and maintain the trademark look of a catalog/storefront. But, if that heritage gets in the way of a potential customer's money entering your corporate coffers then compromises should be explored.

DISCLAIMER: I hope I am not coming off as argumentative. I grew up in a marketing household, so these are the sorts of discussions that flowed through our dinner table convo.

If the return was my mistake then I do not mind paying the return shipping.

If the return was their mistake then I ask for a Call Tag to be sent.

My recent week in the hinterlands of NV was spent almost entirely in a pair of Duluth's fleece lined Firehose pants. I brought other pants, but those were too comfortable and warm. After a week of camping/dirt/grime they did not look like they had seen that much wear. This was the first, trial order from me. I will be ordering more.

I decided to give them a try. Just ordered one of the coolmax longsleeve shirts and a pair of shorts. Maybe I've been missing out on a good store all these years.

Yeah, they fit.
I knew the two shirts I just ordered from Duluth would fit, as the first one did.
The pants came today, and they indeed fit very well.
I hate buying pants where you have to get them by the waist size in inches.
I prefer to order/buy pants/shorts via size such as small, medium, you get the idea.

The hat I got rocks.
The brim is a little big, but it will sure keep the sun off of me.

I also ordered another pair of the Mountain Hardwear Mesa Pants - Men's 30'' Inseam from REI.
A pair I got a few weeks back I had the opposite problem than I did with Deluth.

The Mesas I got earlier from REI were to tight.

The ones that came today fit very well with one size bigger than the returned pair.
These too you order by small, medium, ect, and not by inches.

They are all in the wash right now.
The pants will be great for camping, and maybe try them at work too.
Both have a sunscreen factor built into them.
