Dear EP members, This is my 1st expiditon to this forum. But am I glad to find this trail leading out of the wilderness. Just a quick tour of your terrain gives me great hope that I may indeed be headed in the right direction. I have a specific question about the 6.0 in my 2004 E350 and it seems like there may be some fellow Travlers with real world experience in this tribe. So here it is, Has anyone here ever replaced the stock EGR cooler and EGR valve in the 6.0 (while it's in the van) with an after market 'Delete Kit' ?? Happy Trails

we just had the EGR cooler go out on our F250. we thought about the delete kit but decided not to and installed the aftermarket cooler from bullet proof diesel and had ford install it for us. Our ford dealer actually said this is the kit they install if a customer wants aftermarket.I'm pretty mechanically inclined and let ford do it as I cant have any non-running vehicles in the drive way where I live. Alot of stuff was going to have to come off the "truck" ,looking at the the van engine bay and access it would look to be a very daunting job.

Daunting

Cowboy, Thanks for the reply and words of encouragement :-( Yaa sure, shes gona be a doozy but I'm starting to hear little squeaks from hear and there and I have some excellent help for most of the tricky stuff.
I'm just trying to see if I can grease the skids a little. It would be really nice to talk to someone with 1st hand exprience w' a van. Mark

Just be aware that almost every of EGR Cooler failure is the result of a clogged oil cooler. I have heard good thing about the EGR delete, especially from BPD.
I recommend getting a coolant filter system from www.dieselsite.com They are cheap insurance in helping prevent oil/EGR cooler failures.

By your location I see you are in CA, and now that we have smog checks on diesels from 98 on (thank goodness I scored a 97) I'd check with a smog shop to see if the EGR delete would cause it to fail visual inspection & keep you from registering your vehicle next go around. This never used to be a concern before, but I'd be cautious with any mods that delete EGR's, Cat Converters, etc now in Cali...
