Early model pathfinders?

The 96-99 Pathfinders are a bit larger than the 90-95, they're 4-doors, they're just as, if not more (since they would likely have fewer miles), reliable as the 90-95, and have a 105k mile timing belt interval, instead of a 60k mile interval. They've also got a bit more power from the .3L of extra displacement. The interior appointments are more refined, hell, I've got heated power mirrors, and lumbar support! What more can you ask for?

In 136k miles, I haven't had any problems with my truck, other than what I've caused directly....like breaking the subframe after I launched it 8 feet in the air....

Look like crap.... and the price is a lil higher, but I will look more. Thanks.
Ha, yeah, I'm pretty partial to the gen2 pickup/gen1 Runner body style myself.

Those are good looking trucks. A riding buddy of mine had one, and it looked stellar with barely any lift and 32" BFG MT's. Pretty nice inside too. His was dark blue with blacked trim and the interior was black and gray cloth. Come to think of it I realy liked the look of his truck. Only issue was it developed an alarming number of rattles from in the rear cargo area, but we did shuttle alot of DH rigs over some nasty roads quite alot.

That's a common problem with an easy fix - the plastic coating on the U-latch that sits on the rear floor and engages the hatch mechanism wears thin, and rattles like mad. It's a sub-$10 part from Nissan, and a sub-10 minute job to swap in. Overall the unibody design remains solid and quiet - I'm amazed how tight mine is, no rattles at all, after a high percentage of washboard roads. Very good build quality on the second gen pathys.

I drove mine today after spending the last month and 2000+ miles in the 80 series and it felt like a race car! Maybe I should hang on to it...

I had to chime in finally. I've got a 93 pathfinder with 275K on it. Other then the regular maintenance I've only had to replace a power steering hose, starter, and the worst and most common would be the exhaust manifold studs. These aren't that hard to change the studs on, as long as you can get the old broken ones out.

The only drawbacks to the vehicle (as far as I'm concerned) is IFS, and lack of roof rack, or gutters to mount one. Yes the steering could be stronger but you really wont have to many problems unless you go to a 31" tire or bigger. By the way a 31 will fit on a stock pathfinder.
