Besides Rossmonster? They seem to be doing well.

id forgotten about them. But yeah, that’s exactly the niche id be pursuing if I won the lottery. They seem to be at a marginally higher price point than Nimbl. Wonder how they’re doing?

Looks like they are expanding and selling through dealers now.

I saw an early review on the Baja that said (I think) $170k for the camper. Wasn't the Nimbl $350k with the truck?

this indicates Baja starts at 369k:

But isnt clear whether that includes the truck. I assumed it didn’t bc they dont give truck specs and say they can install on any 1 ton. Which suggested to me they expect customers to provide the truck. But i really dont know.

It isn't obvious from the ad... maybe they do expect you to buy a truck separately. They do include tire/wheel/suspension/bumper upgrades. I'm not surprised the price has gone up, but... that is a lot. Not so bad compared to the competition I guess.

Still think 450/4500 with garage + custom bed made for a slide in +wheel, tire, suspension makes more sense. Spend $100k on that and $25k on a good used Bigfoot... or get them to custom build one to your desires.

to follow up: email from Rossmonster clarifies that 369k price includes the truck.

”The price does include the base chassis. The final price can vary slightly depending on the exact chassis options but the pricing includes an F350 Lariat.”

I'm not sure how they make the weight of their box work on an F-350 chassis. EC used the same base and beefed up the suspension and tires, but they also had a relatively light habitat.

^^^ What makes you think EC's was lighter?
Their construction method and the lack of a hard-top.

ECs Terranova had large tent-sides for the pop-up instead of hard materials, and used a hollow roof. I haven't seen a Rossmonster door sticker, but I have seen one for a Terranova.

The shells on foam and fiberglass sandwich construction are usually not heavy. ~1,000 lbs or so. The basic wall is only ~1.5 lb/sq ft, and I'm pretty sure 400 sq ft or less would cover it.

All the stuff is where the weight comes from.

FWIW, I still don't think the EC Terranova left enough payload for a lot of folks, either.

Do you happen to know if they build to the C&C vs the pickup? I haven't noticed them talking about an articulating subframe which the C&C would need.

Could be wrong, but I think they use the pickup because they have the option of keeping up to a 35" tire under the rig. Also, when I talked to them they indicated that most rigs weigh about 11,000 pounds. The 1" aluminum tubing frame should be pretty light and I think the outer fiberglass body is only 1/4" thick or so. Of course, I could be wrong about all this info, so keep that in mind.

Pretty sure you could fit 37s under either pretty easily. The 1 ton (350 3500) C&C can be had with SRW, so I guess that is what TruckHouse did. I think it would have made sense for TH to go with a 4500/450 (which are only dually) and SS for the much better turning and wider track... but maybe the suspension options are lacking, or AEV doesn't do those?

Rossmonster may be using the pickup chassis (which are boxed and stiff and don't need pivoting subframes) on the Baja, but each chassis manufacturer will have different bed mounting points, compared to the C&C which all have standard width C channel rails.

I don't know for sure about the under storage for the spare, but EC told me they couldn't put the spare under the TN chassis. Rossmonster does on some of their rigs. Also, I have heard that if you get Liquid Spring suspension it uses the under rig spare space for pumps, etc.
